Character Renames?

Having more than one character serves no purpose, you are wasting your time, for absolutely no gain. I don't even know why SE offers us 8 character slots. There are no get rich schemes that come with having multiple characters.

It's like working on two projects simultaneously. Projects never really have an ending, anyways, most seasoned mmorpg players know that its best to focus on one and not multiple characters. This is the typical mentality novice mmo players get, the idea of more than one character. I too back in the early days of FFXI, I created multiple characters, wasted months of work and time.

On the other hand.. I have like 20 characters, all but my main are just there for holding names hostage. I will never level them up. Thought about giving some names up. But there is no rename option, so I'll continue to hold them hostage.

As I'm sure you read, I am a Roleplayer. So having 8 character slots and having more than one character does serve a purpose to me. =) It's not about getting rich, hell it's not even about having 'specialised' characters.

Having said all that, sitting on 20 names for no reason other than holding them hostage is a bit... jerkish? I only ever take names I want and will use. I am what you might call an Alt-oholic, whereby I always have one or two character slots free all the time so I can spontaneously make characters. Some of them have names that others might want, so if I don't play them I wind up deleting them a month or so later. I don't sit on names or alts just for the sake of having them. I do actually USE and play my alts. So a name-change feature would be useful. I can also see it being useful for people moving to the unofficial Roleplay realms who may then want to change their name after considering giving RP a try.

I made an alt so that I could get Lightning's gear along with Snow's gear that I have on my main. Why, then don't I just pop a bottle of Fantasia? Look at my name. I'm not going to so much as touch that bottle until I get a name change to go along with it. (Plus I wanted to start leveling stuff again, having everything at 50 got a bit boring.)
