    Buying/Selling Free Companies & Dungeon/Raid Runs

I've scoured the internet and I can't find the original post stating that the buying and selling of FCs was considered a form of cheating, and thus, not "game legal". Can anyone help me with this?

PS: No, it's not in my history because I was on my phone at the time and it wipes the history daily.

And while we're on the topic, is the buying and selling of boss kills and such actually "game legal"? I know it happens, but is it technically meant to be happening?

I remember reading somewhere that Yoshi-P said it was something like "Breaks the spirit of gaming but technically not cheating". Or was that some other thing haha

As Long as it is for a ingame resource (gil, mats,...) and not rl resources like real Money it is alowed (as far as I know) but frowned upon by most players

It's not cheating, it's just a sad move, when you have to buy your way through content you've lost the meaning of what RPGs are about, it's no real different then buying gill, you're buying gill because you aren't capable of making it on your own.

I mean what else is there to do but sit in a town and throw your real money for content, no need to do anything else. You'll look pretty good. But that's about all you have going for you.

I'm sure if it was "game legal" we'd be able to auction our FCs officially. Someone buying into an FC seems highly unlikely to be allowed. They very literally skip all the work that goes into Ranking, etc. And it's not like buying an item, it's a group of people who'll be sold along with the FC if the founder decides it.

By that rule, then buying any craftable item would be illegal.
Because you bypass the work of leveling that craft job and gathering the materials.
Face it, reality is, if there is demand/supply and both parties involved agree to an existing in-game currency (gil, items, etc), then there is nothing "wrong" with it.

Sure, it's still a sad move. But who are we to judge?
We're not involved in either of the two parties directly and even if we were, if the two parties agree, then the deal is done.

I think there's everything wrong with it, to be honest. Especially when you consider that the members of said FC may not want someone to come in and take over just because they're flashing gil around. Other people within the FC may be more suitable to simply be promoted to leader if the original leader really wants out.

It's not the same as selling a crafted item at all.

Someone sent me a /tell asking me to sell my FC to them simply because they wanted a house of their own. They very literally wanted to take over an FC instead of simply joining one because they wanted everything "their way". What kind of douche would I have been if I'd had sold my FC and it's members to some twat like that?

A free company is a company. A company can be bought and sold.

I'm pretty sure its fine so long as you aren't using real money. However if it's like things were at launch when the titan HM sellers were going into other people's runs to intentionally ruin them to force people to buy their wins off them...then that's another matter.

How is it different? Because you're hurting the feelings of the friends who joined your FC and potentially ruining your own reputation among them, as well as potentially running off with all the profit?
Technically, you crafted those friendships and you earned their trust to chip in for your company house, more than likely.
What you do from there, it's on you. If you choose not to sell, I would applaud you 'cause that's the way to go.

But what if everyone in your FC is in agreement to sell, including you?
Are you supposed to stop, because someone on the forums feels that would be wrong?

If both parties are in agreement, I see nothing wrong with it.
But much like the example you provided, many people pull off similar stunts with other things. Including crafted items, etc. or contributions from friends, who they then use to profit. Those people are jerks in most cases and all you can do is filter them (Blacklist).
