So I've been doing some mooching around the past few hours trying to find if being able to rename your character will ever be a possibility. I have a few alts I made rather spontaneously (and partly for RP purposes) and I love the characters but I want to change their names. One I can just remake and delete the original, that's not really a problem, but one I don't particularly want to re-level as I've invested a lot of time into her.

And I don't really want to pay to transfer her off the realm and then back on just for a name.

So does anyone know if it's been mentioned in any of the live letters, whether or not it'll become a paid feature? =o I've been told it wasn't an option in FFXI but I gather if there's enough interest it could be an option for us now in FFXIV?
