I think you're overestimating Sony's quality output. They've been pretty infamous for at least several years about half-assing many critical, after-the-fact things, particularly when it comes to keeping up with the times with things like PSN and updates/quality control of their services. Similar to how SE was (is?) renowned for their horrible customer service... though I haven't been reading much about it lately, so maybe they've stepped up their game on that with the success of FFXIV. Sony is pretty good about putting out the product, but not so good about following up on maintaining it.

I agree 100% and that's why i don't pay for ps plus as i don't see a point to pay them for something so lazy like psn

Seems like with all the press where Sony basically said "We had no idea we would sell this many PS4 units this quickly" leads me to believe they also didn't account for all the necessary infrastructure to support them all when they were all suddenly deployed and hammering on the servers.
