Torn Between Classes to Main

I have been eyeing that Yagrush for awhile now, seems so smexy!

I'm biased because my main is white mage (and I hated leveling puglisit for bard), but the Yagrush is a very good Soldiery weapon, only behind an optimized Novus and High Allagan Crook. I'm not sure on the monk weapon.

One other thing you could do, depending on your level of dedication. You could do the soldiery weapon for whichever class you feel will be your secondary main, and go for Novus on your main.

That's actually what I did. I have my white mage Novus (mine is a bit better than Yagrush) and so far have gotten one 110 soldiery for an alt job.

Keep both geared up, and when you find a good endgame static that you have fun playing with, you will end up filling one of those rolls.

The WHM in my group is still using the Allagan Cane for Second Coil and doesn't have issues keeping people alive.

Good idea, keeping both geared, and Novus the main of my choosing.....I may just end up ATMA grinding for my monk. While I don't relish the thought of doing this, Relic weapons will probably keep on going and growing in strength anyway, it will probably be a good idea to go ahead and start going beyond Zenith.

Edit: out of my FC, I am the ONLY monk, we have a couple WHM's already, so I am leaning a bit towards that one

this is going to seem like a mean comment, but if you are having trouble healing titan HM, or consider it hard as you had said, as WHM at il90, i would not suggest maining it, as titan HM is very easy. if you think its hard, wait till you get to ex primals, which will destroy you as a healer. if its just because you lack practice or you are just getting to that content, or youve finished it a few times on the other class, but are still having trouble as WHM, find someone to help you through it, and try not to pug it. i tanked al HM primals for a friend getting their relic, and she died several times, its not that she is a bad healer, she had never done it before, even thouugh she heals fine in the other lv 50 content we ran.

i only say this because i used to main a il93 WHM, and cleared garuda ex and got to the heart phase of titan ex, which is insanely difficult compared to HM. ive cleared grauda, titan and ifrit ex as a tank, and have seen tank, while only getting successful clears on garuda ex as BLM/MNK/WHM, as my fc only has 1 tank and i decided to drop from healing to fill the gap. i have seen wipes caused by incompetent healers so much, and just as many caused by every role, not trying to pick on healers.

to end it, if you need practice, which might be the case, because you healed through ST, get people from an fc to help you out, and if you truly enjoy WHM, id say main it

I'm not offended by your comment at all, this is the internets and I am asking opinions^^
I am confident in my ability as a healer and monk, so I don't really care about what people say that would be interpreted as negative. I understand that you are merely being constructive. I stated,

"....it can be challenging at times...." meaning not always. I have been healer on Titan HM before and it has gone really smoothly, sorry about not being very clear. That being said, you seem to be an endgame player, what would you do? Go with your gut in choosing a class because you like it over another (using the slow acquisition of Atmas and/or soldiery) or would you do both equally (but at a much slower pace) and enjoying them both equally? This decision of course also depends on whether or not one wants to be viable in multiple roles for the people/group you play with/for.

i was going to get the soldiery weapon for my WHM, but while i was getting the soldiery, there was talk in my fc about forming a static. now, while i love healing, we have 6 healers besides myself, rolling as dps as well, and we only had 1 reliable tank, so i built my PLD from scratch to help out. i think the time it takes to get atma is insane and is not very helpful for a main class to be concentrating on for their main weapon. i was still a lv 1 gladiator when i bought my 110sword/shield. i love both tanking and healing, as both present a challenge in most content. i am working on my relic as tank, but it is by no means going o be the weapon i use until i finish with novus, which wont be a while as i have over 700 fates under my belt, and only 2 atma to show for it.

my suggestion is getting your soldiery weapon as soon as you can, and still work on the relic in your free time. as for choosing a class, yes, pick the one that you like. if you pick a class you dont like, and you run with a group as said class, eventually you will get tired of it and not want to do anything with it at all. i am a very good monk, but i hate the class, i never run it anymore. but i will gladly roll as a BLM if someone needs dps. if you enjoy it, you will pay more attention and be better with it in general than if you dont.

^ Awesome info from experience, thanks! Then in that case, I'll probably go with my MNK, as I just enjoy that one over the others I have run with (though followed closely by WHM). I'll get the soldiery weapon for the MNK, and work on the Relic weapon in between stuff. The shortage of Monks in my FC is also a good reason, I believe. One thing is if you find Bard your favourite ranged perhaps go with it?
Bards are always needed because of their songs and other situations as well.
My main was Bard after i moved server but i now it is more so blm
