    Crafting at lv 50

So I just got leather crafter to 50 and I want to make my own signature gear for him. I have tried with varing success to do so I can only hq the leather and that's not consistent.

I have a Lv 42 weaver, 15 goldsmith/alchemist, 17 culinarian all for cross classing abilities.

Should I consider blacksmith for ingunity and carpenter for Byregot's blessing?

Getting 3-star hq craft able isn't a long term goal at this point.

Take this with a grain of salt, as I'm not level 50 in any crafting yet.

Get CUL up to 37 for Steady Hand 2.

Yes get Byregot's blessing. My crafter friends tell me it's so good it feels like you are cheating using it.

Maybe you could post what rotation you are using right now. I'm assuming you are doing something like:
IQ, SH, WN2, (spam HT). And reapply SH when it goes off as well as using ToT on "Good" procs.

If you level ALC to 50 you can use Comfort Zone. That really just extends how much CP you have, so you can keep going through your "loop" more.

Prior to 50: with all hq mats, I would start with
    IQ
    WN2
    GS + touch move

I would do the GS + touch combo till I ran out of cp which would top off quality with half durability. I only used HT to top off quality when I had a miss. I would then use CS to finish.

Now that doesn't work with hippogryph leather which is needed for all crafter gear. That rotation would land me with about 50's assuming I don't touch during an excellent condition. (That's happened once where I get an excellent condition)

If you need to gear spec, I am on my leather crafter and I am on the lamia server under this name.

In terms of cross class skills, I would recommend ingenuity next. It's only lvl 15 and will make a huge difference, more than Byregot's for 1/2 stars. Put steady hands 2 or byregot's on your hitlist next.

You can improve a lot right now by changing your rotation. Build inner quiet with hasty touches and apply great strides to one or two touches at the end. With IQ, each touch is more powerful than the last, so you want to double your last ones, not your first.

If progress was the issue, and not the quality, then yes. But I suspect it's lack of skills that is holding you back.

Do forgive my newb questions. I am aiming to get my weaver for CS2 then carpenter to 50. So crafting without BB is like trying to do science without doing math.

1-star crafts can be consistently (but not 100% reliably) HQ'd using only lvl 15 cross-class skills. Hasty Touch supported by Steady Hand, with Tricks of the Trade to bolster CP, and Rumination to provide a final dose of CP to finish the synth, will take you very, very far.

Pretty much the only lvl 15 cross-class skill that I did NOT consistently use in my early crafting days was Rapid Synthesis - and even with that one, Rapid Synthesis occasionally saved a synth that I would have otherwise failed due to underestimating how much progress I need. (10 Durability left, not enough CP for Standard Synthesis, and Basic not strong enough to do the job? Rapid still gives me a 50% shot at what would otherwise be a guaranteed failure!)

So, yeah, get ALL your lvl 15 cross classes. They're so very easy to get, and you'd be amazed at what some of them can do. I consider "all crafts to 15" to be a recommended requirement for even the most casual of crafters.

As a few have mentioned, you definitely want to get the other crafts to at LEAST 15 for the Cross-Class skills.

    Then you want:

Culinarian - Level 37 (Steady Hands II)
    Carpenter - Level 50 (Byregot's Blessing)
Weaver - Level 50 (Careful Synthesis II)

With those skills you should be able to HQ your signature gear pretty easily.

Byregot's blessing does feel like cheating lol. Even with 4 rounds of hasty touch, you pop Great strides and innovation before it, you'll get quality jumps of over 1000 on a Normal condition.
