That ~19k SP quest is only valid for rank30+ classes, If you finish that quest on any class under 30, you get less SP, on the range of about 900 SP if you're about rank10. The SP rewards for quests are listed as the MAXIMUM SP available if you meet the Optimal condition (class and rank level). If it's like gear, it gets cut in half immediately if you're the wrong class, and decreases proportional to your rank difference if lower ranked. At rank30, you need 38k? SP to gain a rank, so that quest only gives half of the SP required to rank up at best. And it's a one-time quest for the main storyline, so you can only get that on a single class.
Market Wards is a terrible system period but SE needs more people to quit/leave before they figure that out (that is if the terrible billing system doesn't make them leave first)

Its is a big problem on selbina....even menders ward is full.
The refusal to use the other two cities' wards is not a development issue, it's a community one. You can blame SE all you want for having a limit on retainers in wards but, in the end, it's *you* who refuses to make use of the available wards elsewhere.

I would say this is spot on. Like I said earlier, I use the other wards in the other cities. People WILL buy there, in fact they WANT to, but they are having trouble finding things in Limsa and Gridania because the sellers have decided to turn Ul'dah into New Jeuno. It is kind of funny to see someone in Limsa upset that they can't find anything in the wards because they are empty and then see another player in Ul'dah later that evening upset because the wards are over crowded, making it impossible for them to place their retainer in the correct ward.
There really is no reason to pack into Ul'dah like sardines in a tin can, especially now with the changes to obtaining guildmarks, how guildleves award sp, and the introduction of companies. People are actually using Limsa and Gridania again. If the community at large put their retainers somewhere other than Ul'dah, their things would sell. I do it just about every day.
I would argue that, while the market wards are far from perfect, we the players are exacerbating the problem by being stubborn.

Every time I sell things in Gridania they sell very fast since I have little or no competition. :3 It's great. It's too bad so few people have realized this.I would say this is spot on. I've noted more activity in the other cities on my server as well. In relation to the slight population shift, I've noticed the wards in the other two cities also pick up slightly. I myself have been avoiding Uldah well before 1.18. I prefer the other cities and surrounding areas, mostly for asthetic reasons.
That is not to say that Uldah isn't still the Grand Central of Eorzea here, but I think as the devs continue to add unique benefits to each city, you will see people spread out more over time.
A player will go where it is most convenient for them. It is the developer's job to make each town as equally convenient as possible. The game revolves around items and groups. Players stay in Ul'dah because that is where people shout for groups, and sell the most goods. Nothing will get players out of Ul'dah unless the wards are connected (which is probably close to impossible without getting rid of retainers), and there is some kind of global chat between towns. The best you can do is move focus to another town, which doesn't solve anything. Making guildmarks only available in certain towns is merely an excursion. They only take about an hour to finish, to which you have to wait longer than a day to obtain more. Why would you still stay in that town once you've finished them?
Yes I do have a My Little Pony sig because I'm not a complete loser who lives in his own little world, proclaiming something is stupid because I say so.
