Whether you're a first timer in any MMO, or new to just FFXIV, people could behave less like selfish brats.

I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.
I'm actually posotively surpised that you hung on. Newbies should take a page out of your book.
I totally agree with "veterans" being cruel. I wasn't new to MMO's when started this one, but I've seen it happen. Funny thing is they frggin's suck at explaining which makes it even worse when they try..
Hope you go out there on your gladiator and have some fun!

OP, let me share to you a little about my 1st MMO experience...
I already know the existence of online games for a very long time. But back then, I put a distance to those, simply because those awful news about how toxic those online community can be.
It took me like more than a decade to finally start my 1st MMO, which happens to be XIV 1.0. And yes, I do find myself in those awful situation, partly also because of my misunderstanding and lack of knowledge. But at least, my mentality are more prepared for such thing as these.
In the end, I enjoy online games more than offline, so much that I abandon alot of it. XD
So... in the end, it's really up to you if you can handle the situation or not. I would suggest you take a moment of leave if you find yourself overwhelmed by these unfortunate situations.
Sometimes you have to wise-up because things could turn to the worse.![]()
So you're saying that a person can be judged on how well they can do something based off 4 days of game play and only having been in one dungeon before hand? Even though I have said in my previous post that I told her not to give up, that she kept trying and even looked at online tutorials and has admitted to becoming better and hasn't had complaints since? Now if a player is well into the game and onto Paladin and still doesn't get it, then yes maybe tanking is not for them. But telling an obviously new player who doesn't have any experience and is only level 17 that they are bad at what they do and need to change classes, sorry still can't agree. That's not even giving them a chance to develop and show what they can do. And by telling new players they suck, can't play their job, should change or quit.. not only are you 'ruining' their experience, it's also harassment. You can play what you want, and if you suck without practicing or trying to better yourself than the price is dislike. By you failing one of the more important roles in early stage dungeons you ruin the other party members experiences. The simple fact is, tank is not for the newcomers, nor is healer. You should play as dps for the first run through. HIGHLY SUGGESTED, it'll be a better experience for you. A bad tank is a much bigger handicap than a bad dps. Otherwise you have to look at the picture as a whole. Im pretty sure you drove a car before, remember that time you got mad at the guy/girl slowing you down?
And actually, usually it's people who are mad at me on the road, because I follow the speed limit and they all want to go 20 miles over it.If someone is slower in front of me when I'm driving and are below the speed limit I simply wait for a clearing a go around. But then again I'm also the type to give myself more than enough time to get from point A to point B, and not run out of the house last minute so I have to drive like a animal to get somewhere on time.
Also I would like to point out I'm not 'complaining' as you say, as much as saying I can relate to the issues these people are bringing up, due to my friend having gone though the same issues a few days ago. I've never thought it was right to be rude to a new player even before that, so I encourage my friend to keep practicing and get better. I'm a teacher, if I put down a student every time they did a problem wrong, where would that put that student? Yes it is wrong, and NO you do not suck, nor are you bad. You have to learn, now here is how you do it right, try again.
So new payers just need practice. Even if they have to run the 3 starter dungeons over and over until they get it or until they decide that the job is not for them.

I'm just a bun boy, doing bun boy things.
When I meet new players who are starting as GLA or MRD I typically suggest to them that they switch to ARC, PGL or LNC, and that they not run the first dungeons as a tank.
In fact, just this weekend I met a new player who was a GLA. I helped with a class quest, put him on friends list, he joined my FC. Late last night he was going to run Sastasha. I suggested he level another class. He didn't want to take the time to do so. Most of the FC was busy with Coil. I said it was too late for me to help because I had to work today, but if he could wait till tomorrow I'd help him. He said it was fine, he'd just use DF. I gave him some pointers and wished him luck.
I can only guess what happened, as today I saw he had deleted his character.
Since I'm on mobile and can't edit:
People don't understand that they because they've been playing MMOs for years doesn't mean everyone has, and just because they've cleared some content 100 times doesn't mean the person standing next to him might there for the first time and could use help rather than attitude. At some point, every single one of us was new, and all of us had to learn. Next time you feel like unloading on a newbie, remember that you were that newbie once too.
This is a social game. If you're acting anti-social, ie. being beliggerent to new players, you're not helping the community. No one benefits from that.
Simple fix for no keyboard for ps4, you can use your USB keyboard you're using for your PC.
To OP get a keyboard. You could have avoided most of your issues it didn't take you 45 seconds to respond to your party. Most People are more forgiving to means when it is communicated.
I understand where you are coming from OP. This is my very first MMO as well. It took me a long time of playing and learning from experiences to get to where I am today. Not saying I am the best player, but I have gotten better. I started the game as a dps because it was easier for me, but I still had my moments where people were cruel. Only thing you can do is develop a thick skin and move on. That's how it is with any online type game.
Just keep it up OP
RIP 2B Butts~~♪♫♪
