Please Create a seperation between Fashion style and Armor ..

First off thank you for taking the time to read this entry

As you know, currently each character fashion style is based off of what he/she has equip at the current time. So if you wanted to look like you have the dream hat on and currently have equipped the usagi kabuto: you would have to go lower in optimal rank and stats to have the look of the dream hat.

Not that the armor creation is lacking but however I think there should be a display difference between armor and fashion.

    Such as
have two style interfaces one where you could equip armor only for your stats
and another to equip fashion styles only (which have no added stats unless you just wanted to be nice and add some). And there would be an option to either display armor or fashion.

Truly sorry and I mean no disrespect but a similar idea to this suggestion would be Perfect World International a free to play MMORPG by Perfect World Entertainment.
    They have this style toggle interchangeably;

So a prime example would be with the coming of bikinis, it would be nice to wear a bikini top for the fashion and go into dungeons and not have to die over and over cause the optimal rank of the bikini top was rank 1.......

If the armor/ fashion toggle was implemented it would allow for players to enjoy the fashion through raids/leves/grind parties and be able to play sufficiently due to the armor equipped underneath (that is not shown unless the player wishes to toggle back so that his/her armor could be seen)

    Benefits :

    1. Would allow for higher player customization and sense of uniqueness

    2. The seasonal items such as the dream hat/ kabuto/bikini would be used more efficiently and not be thrown away and take up inventory space.

    3. This is optional, Square Enix could decide to make fashion available to purchase with crysta OR creation of NEW FASHION RECIPES where players with high enough crafting skills would be able to actually produce fashion items like bikini bottoms

To allows use to save inventory space please create a separate Fashion Bag. That could only store fashion items.

So thank you for your time
and please please consider this suggestion

EVERYONE please encourage this idea to go through, lets go raid in bikinis and swimming trunks ... BWAHAHAHHAHA

This feels completely wrong. I don't like that idea at all. Being equiped with a certain piece of equipment should also display that piece and not a bikini all the time just because one thinks it is pretty. That feature does not make sense in my opinion and I also would not like to see my LS members to wear fashion items instead of heavy armor during a huge boss fight or something even if the stats of the armor would be active.

of course the toggle on and off would be optional to the preference of the individual. You would be one of those people that would prefer wearing and displaying the armor and that is fine but my point is JUST that.. the OPTION to display fashion or not.
The bikini was also used more so as an example cause it was the item soon to be released in the game u can replace it with the kabuto or the dream hat that came out too..

1st just so its here, I don't personally want to see fantasy colours and looks to armour, I like the realistic tones and style, a bit more ornate and fancy yes, omg look at those spikes and neon colours no! Anyway...

How about going a different way that keeps some of the current system.

The type (cloth/mail/plate and so on) effect only the basic stats they get.
    - They all keep the current suited to tags (maybe with some tweaks).
    - New Gear could have less classes or specific ones.

For each type that the armour is suited too (under the current system) bonus stats can be added to suit them all or specific ones but only some/single classes can gain those benefits,
(this would include things like +def for GLD but not PUG/LNC/ARC for example).
For all other classes they don't simply apply at all you just get the look of the armour.
(this could also allow you to not get naked to change class/Jobs if they bring in specific Job/Class gear you).

Crafter's make the basic armour then enhance it as they want or sell it on for others to do. (add an extra item to the list for this or something)

Dye Options would allow players to make the amour look more personalised as we do have very few options.
(body/other/Trim/metals - possible basic parts to colour)

Knights Tunics? (Just a thought from another thread).
This could be simple or ornait dependent on the person.
They could be used to allow people to see which LS, Grand company (or Player company if we get them) that people belong too, and they would fit with the more real look of the game.

And yes finally a fashion tab and toggle but buffed gear can not be put into this so it would also help to create a 2nd market for gear.
And if you get into a fight with it on you only get its bonuses not your other gear.

All this could help diversify gear, keep the current system and give people more of a personalised feel.

Def. not the neon colors but since FF14 comes out with them anyways thought it could be used as fashion..

But yea parts of Esk's idea sound appealing,
realistic look for the game and dyes to give it personalization. A base crafted gear that could be further enhanced to put specific stats dependent on the individuals end game class.
Such as (EX) +dex for pugs/archers

I also like the 2nd market idea too, but it could be condensed into an addition of a new ward to compliment the new armor crafting, stat giving system.

if the creation of fashion items arose this would also require a new ward in the market just for fashion items

MMM..... how about a updated idea...

    ever heard of DCU online?
It an MMORPG one of the games that was also included in the SONY Hack.

    But yea
How DCU system works in that ever gear you collect and equip it basically make a LOG of it.

    idea #2
So.. using no fashion but the current armor/cloth/leather available there would be (like what there right now) a interface that you could equip your gear and create the style toggle that kept the look of everything you have Equip so far so that you could upgrade your gear throughout your level but show off the style of rank 1 gear so that you could color coordinate and stylize the look you want for your character. The style log would only record the style/color with no stats its purely for the purpose of customization.

    idea #3
another way it could work is; create that extra style toggle that looks like the Gear menu and you could equip a set of armor/helm/legs that you want the style of. the difference from the idea #2 would be instead of the style just being logged you must have the gear items and must equip them into the style menu. If the gears in the (new) style menu were removed equipped in your gear menu the stats of each gear would be active. But if the same gear was removed and put back on the style menu (just for the look) then the stats on the gear would be Inactive because you would have equipped better gear more suited towards your rank and needed in the gear menu as you would now.

These two idea would use the current gear items available but also allow for everyone to sport a different look

    Updates could help
    - more color selection (yet realistic.. if real life people wear that color then its a realistic color exception of NEON colors according to grausekopf's wishes)
    - creation of DYE should be more easier
