When will SE let us send mail / items between characters?

RMTs probably have no issue making several accounts and trading with each other. If anything, this feels like more of a hindrance to actual players than a means to stop botting and gil-selling.

That's not the problem. They first need to make it so that you can't put untradable items into a shared account-side storage, which is probably what they're trying to do first before anything else. This is the main reason why RMTs make alts, so they can use account-wide storage to transfer untradable items. TERA has transferrable untradable items, but only in shared bank.

That system is already in place for FC chests. Has been from the start.

There's really nothing stopping them from just adding other characters on the same account and server to the mail list. But then we're just getting into how easily bypassed other systems are by just having a friend as a relay.

I'd rather have a special inventory that can be shared between characters in my account, unique and untradeable items should be able to share between my characters too.

That would only make the problem worse, and would again, make it more of a hindrance to actual players than RMT. They will ALWAYS find a way to bypass it. They always have, and they always will. These counter-measures and preventions only make it a major annoyance for people who play the game legitimately. Right now, the only way to actually trade these items is through FC chests. So you would need to be in a company you trust and that trusts you, for one, you'd have to have access to the chest, and you'd have to have all of your alts in the same FC.

I agree they could easily make a shared storage,even if it's only 10 slots, that you can upgrade via mog station, rather than use mailing system if it's such an issue

Maybe a solution would be to make an account-wide bank that automatically binds any items in it to your account, making them untradeable and unsellable. Put a gil cap on it too then, if it's so important for RMT to be inconvenienced. 100k in the bank at a time, or something like that.

The reason you can't send stuff to your alt is because you can't friendlist your alt. They did this to make "chain of custody" on duped items or RMT stuff easier to track. They also made it so you can't friendlist someone offline so players don't have to clear a hojillion friend requests from spammers (or just creepy people) every time they log on.
It's not a direct "you can't send stuff to your alt because RMT," it's a side effect from other attempts to get around common issues. One that they're not motivated to change because...well, people who have mules but not access to FC storage chests are in the minority.
Shared storage is a possibility in the future, especially with personal housing, but again the motivation just doesn't seem to be there for the time being
