When will SE let us send mail / items between characters?

At the moment, no function to send mail to and from two characters on the same service account exists. Players cannot friend characters which are logged out, making the process impossible sans dualboxing. (and even then I'm not all that sure that'll work. Either way, I don't want to download 2 clients in order to test it, and opening the launcher again, and logging into the second character doesn't work.)

Does SE have any plan to allow characters to send mail between each other for the future? There are a number of players which indeed play alternate characters often.

- Before the "The game isn't designed for alts" discussion, nor was FFXI. Characters could have multiple jobs on that game as well, but the mail system allowed characters to send mail to offline characters without them having to be on a FL.

The inability to mail to characters on the same account has nothing to do with the game not being designed for alts. It's an anti RMT tactic. My guess would be when they feel it won't cause an issue in that regard.

RMTs probably have no issue making several accounts and trading with each other. If anything, this feels like more of a hindrance to actual players than a means to stop botting and gil-selling.

That's not the problem. They first need to make it so that you can't put untradable items into a shared account-side storage, which is probably what they're trying to do first before anything else. This is the main reason why RMTs make alts, so they can use account-wide storage to transfer untradable items. TERA has transferrable untradable items, but only in shared bank.

That system is already in place for FC chests. Has been from the start.

That would only make the problem worse, and would again, make it more of a hindrance to actual players than RMT. They will ALWAYS find a way to bypass it. They always have, and they always will. These counter-measures and preventions only make it a major annoyance for people who play the game legitimately. Right now, the only way to actually trade these items is through FC chests. So you would need to be in a company you trust and that trusts you, for one, you'd have to have access to the chest, and you'd have to have all of your alts in the same FC.

What ever means they have of "stoping" RMT tactics have and are failing, they are still here, in full force, getting plenty of gill all this is doing in the end is hindering players. now the only upside to this is that they can't spam your mail with advertisments which they WILL do if they had the chance, as tells and shouts aren't enough, they have to shove it in your face none-stop regardless if you like it or not.

Anti RMT tactics are not meant to stop RMT. They already know that you can't stop RMT without 100% of the playerbase not buying. They're intended to make it harder for them.
