Making Shout default in Chat

Does anyone know how to change the chat log to make shout the default channel? Mine always goes back to say. I don't see it anywhere in the settings. I know I can just type /shout everytime but sometimes when I want to reply to someone kinda quick, it takes longer than I want. I'm also on the PS3, thanks.

You can't. It isn't ment to be trade chat. Spamming the entire area with drivel is not something the devs want to encourage. Use your link shells and Free Company lines to spam to your hearts content. Leave the rest of the world in peace.

No one has said anything about spam in this topic but you.
So I don't get this response. Also if you dislike the chat going on in Shout, I believe you can block it, or simply ignore it.

You can speak. Ask A question or 2. Holding entire conversations is what they are trying to avoid.

The chat automatically reaches the immediate area you are in. If you need to ask questions go to a crowded area or use shout if you have to but as said, we dont want the entire game world filled with personal chatter use a voice chat program if you are playing with friends or post here to ask quesiotns. The game world needs to be able to have important communication without being buried.

Wow. Never said I wanted to "spam" or flood the area with "entire conversations". There are more times that I need to use "shout" over say in most situations. My question was simply how do I change the default from "say" to "shout". The only times I use either of those is when I have a question (it's a new game so I do have some) or looking for a group.

Sorry didnt mean to sound at all negative, just thinking out loud about the design of the game, as we are all players we can only guess at the intent of Square Enix. Your opening post sounds like you wished for a way to make the chat Shout by default for everyone...even if it is just for you, any thing you say would be shouted if you didnt turn it off and that is rare for people to remember to do. Just more thinking out loud. Hope it works for you as it is.
