Please cut back on increasing item level

It's more and more painful to level sync the higher my item level is getting because I'm getting used to the benefits of having high end gear. The time difference between how long it takes to do end game dungeons versus older ones keeps getting more dramatic with each patch. I'm spending more time doing things that give me hardly any benefit compared to things that provide much more benefit. 10-15 min differences between high and low dungeons is getting pretty extreme.

Pacing needs to be more uniform. Please consider options from GW2 and FFXI to create more space between item level jumps in order to preserve the pacing of your game. Either that or cut down the item level jumps. Either way these World of Warcraft style item jumps are incompatible with level sync in the long run.

GW2 was awful with level sync. Even applied, you wrecked everything around you.

In all honesty, one should never rely on their gear, and really....is 10-15 minutes going to kill you?

That said, I do hear ya on the item level increases. Just gets more annoying when people want a high ilvl versus people who know the content inside and out, or when people facetank attacks cuz gear.

You don't get it do you? The new dungeons are tuned for i80 players (see recommended level) whereas most players are i100+ due to hunts. The old dungeons take longer because they were run in level appropriate gear. Even AK/WP can be cleared quite quickly with skilled players in darklight gear. What they need to do is to buff the new dungeons massively to bring them in line with the current ilvls of players and not nerf ilvl of players.

I do not wish to see GW2 style item progression in the game. Basically once you reach end game, you will have to grind 10x worst than atma for legendary gear which provides a minimal increase in stats. It is a sorry excuse for not being able to release content fast enough. FFXIV releases new content every 3 months so as long as they keep up this pace, there will always be progression. This game does not need to halt progression just because some players cannot catch up fast enough.

Also, could you be more consistent with your ideas? One day you advocate multiple tier raiding with differentiated item levels and the next moment you champion horizontal progression and you make a new post about it every day. To be honest, its getting pretty tiresome to read and it would serve you better if you could consolidate all your ideas into one post.

I think the ilvl increases hurt the most for players who like to have multiple jobs. To be at your best you have to stick with just one job which gets repetitive. When new jobs are introduced, who's going to have the time to keep them up to speed? We would need to abandon our current jobs.

I agree, but the problem is that the time difference between old and new dungeons is only going to get worse every time they increase the item level. That is a problem, both because the design of the dungeons themselves do not promote player interest in them and their are near zero benefits to doing them outside of a roullete or book burning.

Duty finder is a no commitment kind of tool, in that players have no vested interest in promoting friendship among those participating. No one is doing it for each other except for their own interests. The item level boost + level sync is fueling a conflict of interest between player groups. That needs to be minimized as much as possible.

I'd much rather have a traditional MMORPG community where my time spent in lower end dungeons is helping to cultivate friendships in the long haul, but the game is designed to cut all of that important stuff out of it.

10~15 extra minutes is pretty rough.

I played gw2 for 1 month and quit after getting my mesmer to lvl 80 because there was a serious lack of content in that game. For those that did not play gw2, once you hit level cap you literally had nothing to do unless you were interested in WvW or pvp. The only thing that enticed player to continue playing the game was to grind for your legendary weapon.

    http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Legendary_weapon

Imagine after getting your soldiery weapon you have to grind 100 atmas, do 20 animus books and meld 50 materia just to get a reskin or a glow with the exact same stats as your weapon. Sounds fun? No.

GW2 did not have horizontal progression. They have no progression. They have no hard mode raids and their pve end game was a joke. their hardest content was probably world bosses and fractals. I can't even believe you want this p2p to adopt a system used by a f2p game. Yoshi has clearly stated they created this game using inspiration from wow. There's really nothing to debate here.

This hits the nail on the head for me.

If they go that way then the open world will turn into World of Warcraft post Burning Crusade expansion. It's fine if they want more of a hack and slash mix into their MMORPG combat, but I don't think that's what they want.

Also, I'm sorry if my posting habits annoy you. It's not out of any maliciousness or duplicity, I can assure you of that. Perhaps I should get away from these forums for a while.

It's so funny that we still can dominate every early Lv.50 dungeons such as Castrum and Wanderer Palace for the examples.

imagine when we have i200 gears and these dungeons still have no sync in some form. we're gonna destroy everything in 5 minutes.
