This is a perfectly reasonable assumption. The devs said multiple times that they had no plans to do the Lightning Event again, so it was completely rational to throw away your set. Now, not only did they release it again, but added more value to the Lightning set by making it dyeable, yet people like us can't get it because we're locked out of the quest.

Why you would ever throw away a piece of equipment that has been told will never be released again is beyond my comprehension.
What if down the line another outfit matched the pieces you had PERFECTLY? You would never be able to get it again, and on top of it in years to come those items if never released again would become a desired status symbol.

Mix and match an outfit to make something unique, though sets are good in their own rights it is good to see outside of the set mentality and use both if you like them.

Why are these people locked out of an event that has been thrown three separate times? And let's not forget, just because you don't understand it doesn't make it wrong, illogical, or a bad decision. This idea literally hurts NO ONE. In fact, I would be able to just 'deal with it' and accept my choice, but now the items are suddenly dyeable. Now, to me, they may as well be different items, which is why I feel it is now unfair.

To be fair, no other 'quests' or 'events' are repeatable. They were just redone for those that missed it. Which was more then SE needed to do, since they were brought back by request. That said, I'd be fine with letting them be repeatable. And, the gear can be stored in the armory chest at the inn... so... uh... not really clear why you ran out of space and decided to throw them out.

I didn't run out of space. In the OP I specifically said I had the male set then fantasia'd. At that point, they said they had no plans to add the gender exchange option, so it was pointless to own an untradeable, unsellable set of gear that I couldn't equip.

Is there not an NPC that will sell you the gear without doing the quests like they do for all the other events? And I find it funny that everyone threw their stuff out too since you can put event gear in your armoire to save inventory slots.

You can't re-claim any of these items from the Calamity Salvager, which is basically my biggest complain about this. Everyone else saying you should've kept the pieces anyway, are missing a point I think. Like the OP, I was male when I did the quest and I have no intention of changing my character back to male, EVER. Why would I have kept Snow's outfit if I could never wear it, and SE had said there was never going to be a gender trade in option, AND the event was never going to come back again? Making those items re-claimable off the NPC seems like an easier fix than allowing you to re-do the quests, I mean I can grab my freaking Valentine's Day gear off him so why not?

It seems to have hurt you, has it not though? I mean you never know what the devs will do in the future. Just having kept them is, what, two more slots in your storage? If you are that pressed for storage IDK what to tell you. If nothing ever came from them, oh well at least you did. If something like this change came through, you would still have them, great!
Never underestimate the power of "I want what they have!" QQ in the gaming community. Almost all unique/once only gear comes back at some point, or is updated/modified to include more people.

First off, how does the idea that satisfies everyone hurt me?
Second, like I said half a dozen times already, there was no point to keep male only gear when the devs specifically said they had no plans to make players able to gender exchange.
Third, "I want what they have QQ?" Haha, you mean the demand? The only reason the event is on at all?
And lastly, I said I would suck it up if the items weren't ddyeable all of a sudden. Whereas before it was an error on my part, I feel like its unfair now. I would certainly have held onto them if it was said they were making them dyeable.
