Lightning Event issue - PLEASE make it repeatable.

So, after completing the first version of this quest nearly a year ago now, I Fantasia'd and ended up changing genders. At that point, the devs had said there was no plans to add the gender exchange option to the Calamity Salvager. With now useless male-only equips, I ended up simply dropping the set completely, as I had believed there was no chance of getting the gender appropriate one. Even after the redux of the event, I still had zero chance to have any version of the set, since the quests aren't repeatable. At this point, there was still no mention of the Calamity Salvager getting the gender swap option, so I chalked it up to a loss.

Fast forward to today. The event is on, the devs confirmed the option for the gender swap and launched it, so those who held out got what they wanted. Yet once again, I have no way to get anything from the quest. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has this problem or something similar, such as accidentally dropping the set or a piece or misplacing it. Making the quest repeatable solves all these problems, while offering nothing gamebreaking. The set is unique and untradeable and pointless to get repeatedly unless you drop it specifically to do the quest, so its only a win for those who dropped their FF13 sets. What's more, the sets are now dyeable, which was never mentioned as possible/being worked on anywhere, which adds more value to the equips, not to mention the glamour system now exists to take full advantage of them. I think its only fair to make the quests repeatable so those who have been playing since the last events (near a year ago) can have these pieces too. Or, hell, just make the Calamity Salvager sell them. Either way.

You're not the only one with the problem, that's for sure. I completed 2 of the 4 quests a year ago, but decided I really didn't like snow's outfit so I threw those 2 pieces away and never finished the quests. Now I could only get Lightning's chest and boots if I wanted to finish the quest. I dunno why the Calamity Salvager doesn't just let you re-claim them like the valentine's day event stuff. I guess I won't be bothering with it once again, since whats the point of only getting half of the outfit.

Please do make previously earned Lightning event gear available at the Calamity Salvager. I started playing FFXIV during the February 2014 event, and was unable to get my character beyond level 38 at that time. So I earned the first 2 armor pieces and not the others.

Because I couldn't complete the set and needed storage space I tossed the first 2 armor pieces. This was under the reasonable assumption that, because the event was tied to the new RPG release, the event would not happen again and it would be impossible to complete the set. Now I could, but I can't obtain the first 2 armor pieces again...

(Sadly I kept the Valentine's day armor because I HAD a complete set, yet this is what's currently available at the Calamity Salvager...)

This is a perfectly reasonable assumption. The devs said multiple times that they had no plans to do the Lightning Event again, so it was completely rational to throw away your set. Now, not only did they release it again, but added more value to the Lightning set by making it dyeable, yet people like us can't get it because we're locked out of the quest.

Why you would ever throw away a piece of equipment that has been told will never be released again is beyond my comprehension.
What if down the line another outfit matched the pieces you had PERFECTLY? You would never be able to get it again, and on top of it in years to come those items if never released again would become a desired status symbol.

Mix and match an outfit to make something unique, though sets are good in their own rights it is good to see outside of the set mentality and use both if you like them.

Why are these people locked out of an event that has been thrown three separate times? And let's not forget, just because you don't understand it doesn't make it wrong, illogical, or a bad decision. This idea literally hurts NO ONE. In fact, I would be able to just 'deal with it' and accept my choice, but now the items are suddenly dyeable. Now, to me, they may as well be different items, which is why I feel it is now unfair.

You can switch gender of the items at the calamity salvager.

Hopefully it'll get added to the calamity salvager at some point but SE did not MAKE you discard those items. You could have kept them just on the simple fact if you decided to use fantasia again and switch your gender back.
