If you don't like applying DoTs to monsters, you probably won't enjoy Scholar much, because you'll be doing that as well as healing in most cases. If you know what you're doing and macro things properly, though, Scholar is a very effective and powerful healer, and arguably better than White Mage in many situations. And remember, you will have to get Arcanist up to 30 before you can ever even touch Scholar. White Mage, in my opinion, is a little boring to play compared to Scholar, but give it a try and see if it's anything you enjoy, in my opinion, the only area in which it surpasses Scholar as a healer is in AoE heals.

I didn't much enjoy Pugilist/Monk and never played it much so I'm not much help there. Dragoon has a lot of things that require positioning to either the side, or behind a monster, and it also has debuffs that you should be applying periodically, just as Bard does, with disembowel and phlebotemize. If that's something you think you'll enjoy, give it a try. I think it's a fun enough job, but you do have to be paying attention and know what you're doing to be able to play it well.

My best advice would be to play whatever classes you're considering, and see for yourself if you enjoy playing them.
