I recently tried to make a HQ Mogbook for a friend, which normally wouldn't be hard, but it seemed like RNG was trying to take a dump on me by turning all of my 80-96% Terminus Putties into NQ. After burning through about 30 of them, RNG took another turn and all of my hasty touches started failing, often leaving me at only 6-11% -- which, to my surprise, turned into HQ. No jokes, 6-11% Terminus Putties went HQ four times in a row to give me the 10 HQ putties I needed for the book. Then the book off well with a lot of ToT procs, 4 hasty touches landing ... and then fail after fail after fail. Even did a manipulation for a total of 11 touches, even those failed. I sat there with my face in my hands, staring at my 31% and unable to risk a Reclaim due to the mats costing nearly 10 million gil. Hopelessly finished the craft ... and boom, HQ.

People often don't remember when RNG plays in their favour rather than against, but this is one instance I won't forget. It almost made up for the 30 80+% NQ putties I got -- almost.

tl;dr RNG still sucks.
