    Rowena and her "Vintage" wares

So I just got back from a 4 months break, and the first thing that get my attentions is Rowena
Not only that she's establish a new stronghold in Revenant Toll, she also reveal one of the mystery that spans from 1.0: where the hell did she get all that gears of hers

turn out that she (through her peons) "recreate it with modern day techniques"!
there goes the mysterious Ishgardian royalty angle...

but this open up a new question
If she recreate this (I forget the exact word, cant find the quest in Unending Journey) vintages gear, would that mean the *original* exist somewhere, and might even way stronger than the current one?

way to make your storyline SE. thumbs up for that

Aren't the originals our Artifact gear? I think I read something about that somewhere~ Though if someone knows for sure, correct me if I'm wrong.

I kind of thought her story was interesting too. It's kind of a band-aid at the moment though.... cause she is basically another crafter type like gerolt, except she's just the boss of a crafter team of some kind. It would be nice to see some story arc to have her fleshed out more. She's got lots of people working for her, that all seem to have personalities. I think a rowena story arc would be interesting.

If I remember right, the vintage gear she obtained are the master works of Gerolt. You might remember him from before your break as the drunken kettle forging blacksmith who you recruit to reforge your job's relic weapon. The gear is considered vintage because he crafted them some time ago and because they were maintained poorly they've become weathered, but they can be restored to their original state using an item called Sand of Time. This item basically reverses time and returns them to their original condition.

    Hope that helps

Oh that's true about gerolt's stuff, but also if played earlier, there is some talk about her darklite gear and how she obtained it. Though, she doesn't sell it anymore.

Rowena later reveals that the darklite gear is all facsimile. She apparently has some skilled crafters under her that are good at replicating armors. Once she aquires a good specimen, she mass produces copies. Or so her story so far went I thought. However, the new weathered gear had a different story. Those are supposed to be originals... or so she says. She's a shrewd business woman... I wouldn't believe all she says!

From what I understand the "originals" are the Artifact sets that everyone gets at 45 and 50 from the job quests. If you look closely at the Healer's Robe you will see that the red parts are faded and dull and that there are white embroidered details that can be barely made out. Now compare this with the Cleric's Robe which has a much brighter red and all of the embroidery is now in that same bright red.

Doesn't work with Paladin AF though, as the color scheme is completely different, and the Paladin AF gear is worn by LOTS of existing Paladins in Ul'dah.

They have the same color scheme, it is just very easy to miss that due to the fact that the tabard has been bleached white and the greaves, gauntlets and paldrons are missing their white lacquer.

As for why the Sultansworn are wearing weathered sets? My headcanon is that an Ul'dah accountant decided the sultanate could save money by no longer lacquering the armor.

Vintage gear is the i90 AF sets, they've been called such since 2.2

"Alot" is not a word. Allot is but it's unlikely to be what you want, try "A lot".

Not sure who's been calling it that but it's noone I've known. Most everyone I know call it AF+1 given how it's just an upgraded version of AF. I believe vintage refers to Gerolt's old works, the weathered armors. This falls in with other vintage armors in that you have to fix them through crafting in order to bring out their true splendor, in this case you have to use Items of Time to render the change
