    Issue/Suggestion: Icons are all the same for multiple things

    Ok, I'm getting more than tired of things all looking alike. Here are some examples of things with identical icons:

    Grenade Ash
    Bomb Ash

    Matron's Mistletoe
    Mistletoe
    Thavnairian Mistletoe
    Vampire Plant

    Rubber
    Animal Fat
    Hardened Sap

    Bat Fang
    Wolf Fang
    Goobbue Fang
    Sandworm Fang

    Spoken Blood
    Voidsent Blood
    Scalekin Blood

    Potash
    Lime Sulphur

    Alumen
    Natron

    Animal Sinew
    Beast Sinew
    Hippogryph Sinew
    Raptor Sinew

    Etc, etc, etc...

    Seriously, how hard is it to make some new basic icons to tell things apart?

    This isn't meshing, or complex textures, or new 3D animations, they're simple 2D textures with perhaps just a tiny color variation added. (Yellow Vs Blue Yarzon legs for example) This is maybe a few days of work for one very junior graphic designer.

    They do make things to tell them apart, in fact you already listed them, it's not really that hard.

    The only thing that tells apart what I have listed is the mouseover names. The graphics are identical for many of them.

    Exactly. Whats the point in making all the icons different? Most people are not going to commit to memory what each one is and would mouse over it anyways to see what it is. Alot of the ores/stones are different but I still have to mouse over them to see what they are.

    If we follow your logic why bother to have any icons at all? Just have one icon for everything and mouseover everything to tell what it is.     If someone has the following on their retainer:

    Animal Sinew
    Beast Sinew
    Hippogryph Sinew
    Raptor Sinew
    Diremite Sinew

    He has to mouseover all of them to see which is which.

    Similarly all of these look the same:

    Bat Fang
    Wolf Fang
    Goobbue Fang
    Sandworm Fang
    Jackal Fang
    Hellhound Fang

    Why are the undyed cloths different icons? Why are the ingots different icons?

    Nobody has 6 different keys on their keychain that all look alike and think it's a good idea.

    just autosort and memorize the order, who cares.

    how are you going to remove it without putting your mouse over it anyway?

    Thank you for your opinion on the subject. I care and the devs care, or we would not have different icons for things already would we? It is clear you do not care.

    Perhaps we should just have black circles that are all the same for all new items since like you said we have to mouseover things anyway. I'm sure nobody would mind.

    We're back to an argument against me that boils down to "rex1976 thinks it's ok how it is so that should be enough".

    I would also like different colors, icons, or some detail to tell these icons apart as well. It's not necessary but it would make it a lot more convenient. Icons are there so you can see what something is at a glance.

    Except you are incorrect. Many people can easily tell what ingots are Mythril because their blue color for a metal is very unique. It's easy to tell what wood and lumber is rosewood as the dark red color is very different from everything else. Crafters that are going to be having multitudes of materials are the ones that this affects most and the ones that would see the greatest benefit as they will end up learning what each icon is eventually, assuming all the icons are different.

    Changing the color on an icon literally takes seconds so it's not like doing this would make them delay a patch or release less dungeons or anything.
