Watching cutscenes = AFK?

There are some cutscenes in Castrum / Praetorium that cannot be re-watched, unless they finally fixed that. One of them is a spawn cutscene for a vehicle I think. (Considering the coil 1 spawn cutscene for a boss is re-watchable, I was surprised the castrum one wasn't.)

It was never broken in the first place, you've always been able to watch all of them.

This is true, someone in our group said some CS's were missing, then found them later. XD

I don't quite understand the concept of having cutscenes right in the middle of dungeons anyway. Some of the story cs's are great and all and I love the little notes and whatnot in Tam Tara HM, but they had to know this was going to happen sooner or later when you force some people in an instance to stop for cutscenes when everyone else can keep going. Even if you give them the option to skip them.

I mean, wouldn't it be easier on everybody just to have the cutscenes at the beginning or end, but not in the middle?

Actually, it's something SE created back in version 1. You could only get Darklight gear (the best non-crafted+melded gear at the time) by clearing Aurum Vale or Cutter's Cry in under 16 minutes (I think it was 16, though I'm open to being corrected).

You also got seperate lodestone achievements for killing Ifrit, Moogle or Garuda in certain time frames.

That isn't the same situation as players choosing to bum rush through dungeons, leaving other players in their wake, just so they can squeeze as many dungeons into their personal time as mathematically possible.

The fix for this thinking would be as it has been even in 1.0 .. Stop the timer while ppl watch the CS. Put ppl back in a kiddie pool and pause the timer. Remove the kick option if in CS. If they can do it with loot they can figure it out.

I remember being screamed at 1.0 cause I dared to watch the moogle opening scene. "Too many moogles are up now just die!" This has been a long time thought process of the players. I wish it would go away too. Some of those cs are nice and if youre with friends you get some really nice screenshots.. I cant do that in my inn room and I hate it. Some of my favorite pictures from even back then are some with my friends beating story Gaurda, United We Stand, or flying in for Raven.

Disable CS skipping in these two dungeons, period.
Anyone who says most people wouldn't run it, think about it... this means that MOST new to the dungeon are being forced to skip a major part of the game. Some folks who were forced to skip CS in their story turn around and force others to do the same. Frankly, this sounds abusive. I think more people would still run story roulette than you'd think. When I run these dungeons, I tell the party to feel free to watch CS (and this should be added to the auto translate dictionary!). What makes me sad is how many with multiple 50s thank me and say they never got a chance to watch the CS in situ.
Anyone who says they can burn through trash mobs or even bosses while the newbies watch CS perhaps has forgotten that CS don't make sense when they are all piled on top of each other.
I will, however, agree that the heavy use of CS in these dungeons is... unfortunate. And I wish they hadn't been done this way.

Unfortunately I have no idea what any of the cutscenes in the Praetorium are. I didn't even bother trying. I did get hung up on the Magitek Reaper and fell way behind. I asked people for help but no one answered. It only took me a minute or two to figure it out, but by that time I had been locked out of the boss battle. I was really infuriated by the fact that one of the players announced they were done and stood around doing nothing. I'm having worse and worse experiences with pugs. I've pretty much learned to clamp my mouth shut and wing it. If I screw up, oh well.
