So the entire internet is broken....I suggest SQ-ENIX starts making some phone calls to get access to their servers cleaned up then because all these individuals are becoming bigger and bigger crowds everyday and while they CAN'T play FFXIV they CAN play other games just fine on the broken internet. Will spread the word, thanks for all the um...helpful...information....

Sorry if you don't find the factual information and actual real-time maps that I've been posting out there demonstrating the issue helpful. Not to mention all the tracerts and discussions about how my ISP keeps changing my route frequently to stay ahead of the congested corridors. It in fact happened again tonight... was on Cogent last week, and it started getting wonky last night. Today, while I was in Main Scenario Roulette, they bounced my modem and switched me to TATA... and the route is spot on with <60ms latency from here in South Carolina. Once my modem finished rebooting and my login timed out, I was able to finish the roulette, got my 230 myth and have been playing for about 4 hours non-stop doing fates, beast tribes, and killed diablos to finish a Skyfire 1 book.

All of these corrections are being done because I've been in touch with my Tier3 techs about the issue off and on since Beta4. YMMV depending on your customer support people, but for me it's worked like a charm to keep me playing with minimal issues (pretty much only have real trouble when my modem reboots if they get to the problem before I contact them and bounce the modem myself).

    Code:

I'm with Jeza on this, I've had friends in the same area as me have this issue and we can not play.
Granted, it somehow COULD be the entire internet provider as a whole in this area. While not likely it is something to think about because it's a weird shady local one (all we got)
however, we can boot up any other game(including other MMOs) and it would play silky smooth with no internet issues at all.
To me it only seems logical that it's a server side issue.

Again, not talking about your local ISP. Look at the trace I provided in my last post. Note the last names at the hops. rr.com is my local ISP (Time Warner), they are currently routing me to TATA (a Tier 1 ISP, ends with as6453.net) to get me from my local network, across US/Canada, and into Montreal where I get handed off into Ormuco (SE's ISP). That intermediary is one of 3 (count that... 1, 2, 3) ISP's that are responsible for routing almost ALL of our traffic across North America and into Montreal for this game.

This is where a lot of the issues in route are being detected. There are ongoing issues with the peer/transit exchanges for these third parties that have been the bane of our connectivity woes for DECADES in the US. There are other groups that deal with the intercontinental traffic as well Telia, Telstra, etc. that manage traffic in other regions as well that cause havoc in their areas. This is why it is important to look at the actual route to make sure it isn't someone in between you and SE. More often than not, this has been shown to be the case.

SE might not be able to do anything about physical routing issues, what they can do is change the game and servers so that a couple of delayed or dropped packets does not disconnect you to from the game.

the internet was never designed for the constant uninterrupted packet transfers like a mmo requires , and this kind of thing happens to every mmo. but you don't notice it because almost every one of them have some sort of programing that compensates for this, why SE decide to make their severs so sensitive and disconnect the client instead of making a slight lag or freeze like almost every other mmo does is beyond me.

but if they don't do somthing about it soon i don't think i will play anymore, having to relog every 10 minutes and not being able to run any dungeons or raids is just ridiculous

I just got disconnected after accepting a Frontlines queue. As in, the counter was tallying all 72 players, and was up to 57, and POOF. All that wait, and disconnected because FF can't get its crap together. At this point, I frankly don't care if it's FF's fault, or someone in between. If it's not fixed, then it's not worth paying the money to pay for a service I'm not getting.

UDP doesn't support ack/resend, so unless you want to be connected at 1.5x your typical latency by switching to tcp......

If you have the option to do so, make sure that the box for Filter Anonymous Internet Requests is unchecked in your router configuration. The place for this will vary depending on your brand and model, but for most Linksys routers, it is located under Security>Firewall.

Had this issue all day today and checked this and game is working fine now.

EDIT: Scratch this... Seemed to halt the Error 90k issue, but still getting disconnected with 90002..

I started to get lots of 90k after last update as well... this seems to be a problem after updates. I checked everything on my network side but all seems to be fine.... all my hardware are fairly new, changed cable, restarted router, no problem with other internet access but still getting 90k'd also 90002 here and there on FFXIV. I really hope this will be fixed soon since my group will not be happy with me wiping the party in coil and can't advance.
