Something about this game being fanservice

And that is the only thing that makes me come back to these forums, go back to the AWFUL subreddit for this game...its hoping they make changes to the core gameplay because this game tries to constantly draw me back in because its Final Fantasy and the fanservice is great.

Honestly, if this was some other IP, I would never play this game again until drastic changes were made and wouldn't even look back at this game. But the fanservice is so damn fantastic and it FEELS more like a Final Fantasy than other Final Fantasy games.

It's a damn shame they can have SO many good ideas then have so many other ideas fall flat

Side note: All these people praising the games story...makes me wonder how little their attention span is to actually think this game has a good storyline. The story is a typical JRPG cliche...but I guess that's what people like about it. Some people don't want originality, I guess that's okay too.

I'm pretty sure that people are praising the small details, and the ambiance of the story, after all that's half of what makes a story unique.

Remember, most of what you call cliches are just inevitable aspects of life, this is an mmo after all, they have a lot of ground to cover, not just the "original" stories that you're talking about (which IMO are already present in the game.) The complex unique story comes after the foundation has been set.

Also don't make the mistake that because it has a lot of inspired content and allusions to past ff games, it's unoriginal. If anything the game is even more creative and original because of these elements, because it's all implemented creatively and fits in with the world, so it actually is original in it's own way, especially for the series which usually has no connections between the various games .

I honestly don't even know anymore. I think I stay playing even if it resolves to just logging in and doing my three daily hunts and my one weekly hunt mark and that's it. I feel i stay subscribed based on promises for the future. Gold Saucer I want to be excited for and happy for and hope its everything I dreamed of. Even if the realist side in me and seeing what I seen so far in the game means it will have this attached grind or lock out or handicaps due to RMT scares or this busy work aspect to it. Merely to function as a stall tactic to the next content patch. I hope I'm wrong but...yeah.

The story I love and story is something Square Enix has always done well, Hildibrand I love as well but the rest is.....yeah.

Since this is a MMO, mostly because of the people I play with. I enjoy the game and its content. If there's nothing left to do, it's not a bad thing for me, it only means that I now have more time to help others with their progression or whatever they need. But the top 1 will always be the people I met here. I love them, they're like my in-game family.

A group of guys/gals that I have been playing games with for about 16 years. Its experiences with these people that keep me coming back to MMOs.

Lately I find my self having to force myself to play the game cause I pay for it every month

What a strange concept. Why would one make themselves suffer even if they paid for something? It like forcing yourself to eat food that disgusts you just because you paid for it...

I am playing because I have a lot of things to do which are fun. There are still a lot of things that I have not tried but will try eventually. I have been playing since beta and I hope that some time I have had tried everything out. Won't be any time soon though, there are just too many things to do...

Right now I'm just trying to force all my classes to 50 to feel I've 'completed' something.

There's really nothing worthwhile to collect in-game, so there's not much I legitimately look forward to goal-wise. Housing has been pretty much the biggest draw, and I really had a lot of hope for that, but by the time it hits, I may have become so jaded with it that it doesn't grab me like it should have.

I just resubbed after about 6 months off, it feels like the game has been massively improved, and lot's of new content for me to do, loving it.

I keep playing because I enjoy the game. I haven't made it to a lot of content and I look forward to that. I also didn't do hunts(aside from the daily/weekly stuff) much, so I don't have much(only one piece right now) i110 gear without setting foot in Coil. I made it so I have a lot to look forward to, even if I can't get to it quickly. Outdated content or not, I'm happier taking my time and enjoy a game I pay to play at the pace I feel comfortable with. I played the hardcore rushing game before at it left me unsatisfied and hating games, never again for me. I enjoy logging on and avoid content I don't feel like doing that day.
