A Heart-felt letter to Hideyuki Kasuga

Dear Kasuga-san,

I am writing to you today with the hope that you will be able to help me get an in-game issue resolved.

You see, for the last 375 days, my husband has not been able to do levequests. The Leves of Swiftperch quest glitched on August 16, 2013 during the NA open-beta and while a patch was implemented in-game a few weeks later that solved the initial problem, his quest was never reset.

We feel that resetting the Leves of Swiftperch quest will be the simplest fix to his problem because, while he does have the quest active, the NPC Swygskyf seems to be under the impression that he has already accepted his "Grabbing Crabs" levequest. However, that levequest does not appear in his quest log and even though he has completed it multiple times by forming a party with players who can do that levequest, he can't turn the quest in for credit because it is not in his quest log.

Because he is unable to do levequests, he can not do guildhests, and therefore, can not proceed with the main story-line quests.

We have tried everything to get this resolved: We have submitted approximately 8 bug-reports in the forums, we have called the NA customer service support number, we have spoken to GMs and Senior GMs, and I have attempted to contact Square-Enix through twitter, as well as the development team here in the US through their twitter accounts.

Nothing has worked. I was hoping that you would be able to understand the frustration that this has caused my husband (who has been a loyal fan of the Final Fantasy series since childhood, and who played Final Fantasy XI for 10 years) and that you might be willing to help him by finding someone who can get into his account and reset this one quest for him.

Even though he doesn't have access to levequests, he has leveled almost every Disciples of War job to level 50, and he does enjoy the game. But he would like to be able to experience the game in its entirety.

This sort of error would go in the bugs forum, and will *hopefully* be addressed promptly. I had a similar issue many months ago, when an NPC for a botanist quest just decided not to respond to me no matter what I did... clicking on him didn't work. I made a post on the forums and it was fixed within the day. This is not the area for bugs, though.

P.S. I don't think the Google Translation is needed, as there are plenty of people who review the bugs forums who speak perfect English.

We have reported this issue in the bug report forums approx 8 times over the last year. Every time we report the issue it is either moved to the "Insufficient Information" or the "Duplicate bugs" section. When we contacted GMs we were informed that neither GMs nor Senior GMs have the ability to reset quests. We even tried submitting a bug report stating that we are not getting credit for completing the quest, & we provided screen shots of my husband's char in a pt when the levequest was initiated & when it was completed. It was placed into the section for investigation & nothing has been done with it since.

I didn't know if Kasuga-san would be able to read a letter written in English, so I attempted to translate it into Japanese, just in case. I was hoping that since he is the lead developer for the game that he might know someone who can help us and fix the issue. Esp., since we have been told previously by GMs that only the team in JP can fix this issue.

Thank you. I don't know that I would call him "patient". I think it is more stubbornness than patience lol.

We actually had a GM tell us 6 months after this issue initially occurred that he could reset his character back to where it was the day before it glitched, but the GM wasn't able to guarantee that he would get to keep all his hard-earned end-game gear or gil. So we opted to keep the character where it was. Especially since he already had 4 or 5 classes that he had leveled to level 50.

I even offered to level the first two jobs on a new character to 50 for him, but he turned that down as well. ^ ^; Hopefully, someone on the Dev team will see this and will be able to get the issue fixed for us.
