Getting started in PvP, a couple questions

Hey there, I really need some help if some folks wouldn't mind, I can reward you with lame jokes later if you want?

I'm about to get started in Frontlines grinding tomorrow, did a few games before on my paladin and loved it but it was a pain in the neck to play without getting setup properly

Well this time I've got a plan, but I'm kind of a min/maxxer and I like to do my research beforehand. Unfortunately this game doesn't have as many resources as my last MMO when it comes to research, and I don't have very much time to play everyday so I'm hoping other players here can fill in the gaps for me.

I want to play a White Mage in PvP. Playing this class will be exclusively for PvP, so all my bars, abilities, and stat allocations will be soley aimed to be as good for PvP as possible.

I've got two major questions right now that I could really use help on:

    1. What kind of stat allocations should I use? In PvE I just powered up my heals, but I really have no idea what's most important in PvP.

    2. How many bars are there that are tied to the specific class I'm playing? I'm asking this because on my Paladin I moved three bars to the center of the screen to watch my cooldowns on, but those same bars with the same abilities stay there on my White Mage. Is there a different bar I could use aside from the first two bars (which are full of important abilities) that I could put at the center of my screen to watch my cooldowns on?

Thanks a ton, I really am coming up empty finding these answers.

I'm a WHM, and I put my stat points in Vitality over Mind specifically for PvP. I also use two ilvl 100 tank pieces on my right side. As a healer, you're at the top of the priority list in most PvP formats so being able to take that random bit of burst damage is important, and not having to worry about constantly healing yourself because you only have 3.5k HP is nice as well. Damage packets in PvP are much smaller than they are in PvE ( not including Limit Breaks ). A Cure1 that heals for 900-1k is generally enough to keep people alive fairly easily unless they're getting focused heavily by a group of people in which case a Benediction may be in order or, Cure2 provided you have time and in some cases, it may be best to just let them die and rez them safely at your location while dispersing that concentrated DPS. < Huge run-on sentence, I know.

For your second question, you can turn those Paladin Hotbars off, and move a few more Hotbars to the same location as your Paladin ones. Then, when you need to switch to the Paladin bars, just turn your healing bars off. This can be done under Character Configuration ( Hotbars ), and HUD layout. It's what I do at least.

    Good luck.

Honestly, be prepared to be frustrated, especially while you're learning to play a healer in PVP. Not always. Some runs are fine. But, some make you want to scream. I say this because you will always be the number one target. You will also be the one who will have 6 enemies attacking you at once. You will get stunned constantly. You will be put to sleep constantly. You will get chained to an opposing tank constantly, unable to get away.

Thanks a lot for the replies, I'm not at home right now but I will be in a couple hours and will give the hot at thing a shot.

And Copestetic, you say you wear tank pieces? Does that mean you pvp as a conjurer instead of a white Mage? It seems like a brilliant idea, thanks a lot.

I used to pvp arenas and rbgs in wow as a healer and a absolutely loved it. Making that great escape is just so satisfying.

You can wear tank accessories as a white mage, that is what they meant

Conversely for when you play PLD, lose the fending accessories in favor of slaying. If you don't have any, get them. Very little is more useless than a tanky-tank. Good luck! 8D

Whm/Mrd/War/Mnk here, I've grinded over 70+ pvp ranks across all three grand companies. Wanted to give you my opinion on your questions.

    1. I've tried mnd/pie/vit and I prefer vitality since I use full fending trinkets.

    2. There are many customizable settings for hotbars. You can remove shared hotbars under its respective menu. I personally have 2 hotkey horizontal bars and 1 vertical bar near the center of the screen for clicking (situational/consumable items...potion,icarus,regain etc)
