Idea to make healers more interesting

I'm gonna have to agree with Leo, Scholars are monsters. I can solo heal every turn of SCoB with Eos or I can push upwards of 260+ single target DPS when allowed to just stand there and wale on something WHILE Selene can continue healing for me. Add a Rank 20 Chocobo into the mix and Scholar is the ultimate solo class.

I don't see how that can work, SCH and WHM are fine as is, they had to NERF Holy's damage from 240 to 200 because it was to strong, that is a good sign that they are fine in the DPS department should they get bored. For me WHM is already interesting, you never know wth is going to happen to peoples HP.

Don't even get me started on SCH. They have no DPS issues..

They're both good to me, but I personally enjoy SCH far more than I did WHM.
WHM was just kinda boring, SCH is a nice change of pace.

We can expect for each to class to get one more DPS ability. I'm betting on either quake or stone 3 for CNJ. Not really sure what ArCanist is all about.

WHM is near perfect for the time being. It's so well balanced and the abilities work so well together. The job is so much fun to play. It's a beautiful thing.

There are probably other jobs more in need of adjustments and/or new abilities right now.

For example, bards could use a song for situations where the group make-up is something other than casters...that DOESN'T nuke our DPS

OP, you obviously are not right for a healer. Please don't suggest to make WHMs do more than holy spam until the tank is dead.

So in the lore, a conjurer must take life to balance the life that he/she gives. What if the conjurer was given an ability ("Divine Wrath" for sake of argument) that charges up as she heals. When the gauge on the attack hits full, he/she can use it to do an incredible amount of burst damage all at once, instantly killing a trash mob or heavily damaging an elite.

One thing that a lot of healers like to do is flip cleric stance on and cast their offensive spells for some damage when the rest of the party isn't taking much itself. It's arguably the one thing that makes healers more attractive here than in other MMORPGs, and giving them such an ability would make things a lot more interesting.

A similar power up ability could be utilized by the scholar in respects to enemies eating through the galvanize buff.

Hmm... my only fear with something like this is that it would give some healers the impression that they must Heal during a run. Now I know that many healers do, but when you are new to healing the idea that you must also become the third DPS can be a bit daunting. I am not saying that a Healer must not DPS, I like how this game does give you such options what with Clerical Stance etc, I just think it should not be mandatory.

I do agree that Healing could be made more interesting, with perhaps more unique spells and different mechanics. Environmental aspects could make it more interesting too. I remember in WoW, WotLK I think, there was a fight in which the healers had to heal the boss, whilst everyone else kept adds off them. More battles and aspects like that could help keep the role interesting!
