Stats Weight and all the maths talk

Hello,

Lately i've been looking for the serious talk about how much every stat weighs, the Bis and all that... I know it was supposed to be improved, I read many topics about it but they were all 6-7 months old.

So is there a forum, thread or any place where people are still discussing all these, and updating them ? I'm interested in participating in those.

Pretty much everything in regards to stat weights still holds true today. Very little in terms of class abilities has changed in the last 7 months or so (at least not to the extent where any stat weights would be notably shifted.)

This is a pretty neat site for comparing gear. There's a BiS calculator at the bottom but beware: it can sometimes take an incredibly long time to finish the math. Still, it lays everything out for every class very cleanly, including where to get it, so it's good for that if nothing else. The default stat weights listed can be pretty iffy, but it's still a useful site.

I have yet to see the calcs or that famous spreadsheet of EasymodeX x.x I mean, I want to beleive those numbers but there's nothing to defend those numbers. I never saw the spreadsheet, to me it doesn't exist lol. I know for a fact that Det isn't that good for BLM.

Only on a 1 point vs 1 point basis. When you consider the lower distribution of det on gear, it actually turns out to be BLMs worst stat.

Not correct. The max det you can get from a 110 weapon is 31 versus 44 for Spellspeed. 44 SS > 31 Det. Also, SS value is higher with Selene which, if you're scholar is good, should be using over Eos with few exception. Hell, 44 Crit > 31 Det. That's unfortunate but it is the way it is.

Unlike other classes however, you don't get punish much by having Det in your gear since it's your lowest stat. Skill Speed is extremely bad on bard if you compare det for BLM.

The only item that is worth having Determination is your Novus because 31 Det > 31 Crit.

I am talking about on a point by point basis. If the situation ever arose where BLM gear had a better distribution of DET, you would all be (or should be) jumping on it.

Also while EMX was not too keen on giving his spreadsheets out, I did trust his work. If you ever browsed around in the 2.0 times, the amount of math that EMX and Powercow laid out was absurd.

Wrong. Read that same link again. If you are with a scholar worth his salt, spellspeed is the best.
