Thread: Patch 2.4 ~~~?

It wouldn't surprise me to see it Mid/Late October.

We should have all info of it though before that time.
I say this because Yoshi has said past few interviews that they want to talk about expansion but holding stuff for Fan Fest.
Meaning I would say NA and EU Fan Fest will prob get information about 2.5 perhaps expansion reveal and the JPN Fan Fest (last one) will be about 2.5 and reveal of expansion (if not at earlier Fan Fest) and more tidbits.

No way will each event have all rehashed info.

I'm going to say the last few week of October or the first week of November. Big patches are usually at least 5ish weeks apart and SE made it seem like 2.38 will be out late September.

As most sysadmins will tell you do stuff early in the week so you have time during the week to fix whatever breaks(because let's face it noone likes to work late on a friday or work on sat/sun). Mondays you generally plan and prep for the deploy.

As for 2.4 yeah mid-late october seems to be the point. I'm guessing before the fanfest though since they want to focus on the expansion during that.

As far as I remember, this patch would take a while because they had to balance the new job with all the now existing content. They also have to include a new tier of gear, quests and that. The patches were, so far, only more content to do. This one includes something really important.

I think they've said mid-late October (not sure why they ever bother giving a range because it's invariably the end of the range). Yoshi definitely said to expect 2.38 around the time of TGS, so mid-late September for that. I'd guess 3 weeks minimum between that and 2.4, most likely 4-5 weeks.

As for the Tuesday thing, I think it's mostly just Monday is last minute prep for deployment and then Tuesday is relatively early in the week so they can fix whatever major thing that they break before the weekend. It also nicely coincides with the weekly reset (now). I think when the reset was on Monday, for whatever reason, it actually created a whole 1 day week where people could cap tomes (mythology at the time) again for that one day to get a bit ahead if there was a patch on Tuesday. If their system is set up where they can't do major updates without resetting weekly caps (again, no idea why but it seems to have been a problem) then we can be relatively sure that we'll never see a major patch on any other day of the week.

October is a huge month for new releases. SE may think of releasing 2.4 to compete with those games.

HOWEVER:

A bunch of those games have been delayed to November. So SE may delay the patch to compete with the November releases. Either way, they could be screwed. If 2.4 is released in October, they'll probably lose people to the November games. If they release 2.4 in November, they lose people to the October games. OOOOOOR SE doesn't care about those releases and releases in October anyway.

In SE's mind, if people stop logging on to play the October/November releases, it doesn't matter as long as those people are still subbed and paying SE even if they aren't playing.

They wil lose people to the october/november insane releases one way or another. But if they release it in october the people that are busy with those games in october will return november and those in novemeber will/ be playing in october. And that should give SE enough time for 2.45 for december or so to grab the lot back in hehe.

I hardly touch any other game thas ffxiv though. Do have some I still haven't played. Basically if I vere get stuck with downtime I can enjoy them then hehe.
