After loving the blademaster tank in bns , I really got used to the idea that FF would one day have a samurai tank. I believe that dream crashed to the ground when SE decided DRK would be a tank. We already got 2 sword tanks( Paladin, dark knight ), and as of yet, no sword dps. Samurai will surely fill this spot...

Parry is really not a very strong stat at the moment, so it would need to be redone to be overally functional. Personally from a flavor stand point I think some sort of fencer wielding a rapier would be a better choice for a parry tank as well.

My honest hopes for Samurai are a dps that uses draw stance style moves so it would be better set apart from Warrior and Dark Knight who also use two-handed weapons.

Samurais usually are tanks, they are just more damage focused than knight and have a lot a debuff attacks. The very nature of a samurai is tank like, they wear flashy armor to stand out and draw attention on the battlefield and were all about protecting their masters.

Also wasn't SAM supposed to be a tank in FF11 like how ninja was going to be dps until it was found that they could both do opposite jobs better? (or more so that parry tanks didn't work well.)

In FFXI SAM was an extremely good tank for endgame. Tachi Gekko and Shoha were used to hold hate on the hardest monsters. (They had huge attack bonuses)

SAM also had access to excellent PDT sets with the ability to change stances to pull hate or dodge/parry damage.

The size of it aren't meant for taking damage.
