New Samurai Tank

Stay your pitchforks for a sec. I know Samurai is typically a DPS class and would probably be the most fun as such, but bear with me.

For the most part, I think it would be a great "stance" tank with focus on parry. Having a stance that not only increased their parry rate, but the % amount of damage parried would make for good tanking. Obviously have something in there for enmity.

For a set list, having no set rotation, but going pseudo ninja where a certain combination of attacks will have different effects. No set starting point, but say 5 moves, and a variety of different ways to combine them like: 1>2>2>4, 2>4>3, 5>4>1>2, 1>2>3, 3>5>2, etc. These could be used to increase DEF, Attack Speed, Skill Speed, Magic DEF, debuff the target, AOE attacks, etc. Keep it to 5-6 outcomes for now, maybe.

I forgot to add, the armor set would be everything of the current tanks and dragoons except for the 'heavy' gear that includes the head and body.

I hope they save Samurai as a tank and don't introduce it as a dps in 3.0. I am not really interested in dark knight because I don't really like big weapon tanking. I don't enjoy the aesthetic of warrior for that reason. I was really excited about playing a samurai tank and would probably switch to it as my main if it happens.

I too hope SAM will be a tank. If I am not mistaken, they mentioned that DRK would focus on parry inter alia.

It would be nice if SAM focuses on something else to keep that diversity going. I can think of a lot of options when they would make it a counter tank. This, in my opinion, fits SAM best in terms of tanking.

Let's wait for Tokyo's fanfest and hope we'll hear more!

What's the point on having three melee two hander sword weapon as a tank?

After loving the blademaster tank in bns , I really got used to the idea that FF would one day have a samurai tank. I believe that dream crashed to the ground when SE decided DRK would be a tank. We already got 2 sword tanks( Paladin, dark knight ), and as of yet, no sword dps. Samurai will surely fill this spot...

Parry is really not a very strong stat at the moment, so it would need to be redone to be overally functional. Personally from a flavor stand point I think some sort of fencer wielding a rapier would be a better choice for a parry tank as well.

My honest hopes for Samurai are a dps that uses draw stance style moves so it would be better set apart from Warrior and Dark Knight who also use two-handed weapons.
