Please god no. Some of us are horrible at things involving timing or rhythm or puzzles. Do not make gathering more of a chore then it already is.

That's not a really great argument for keeping things as they are, considering that some people are terrible at staying out of the glowy stuff in combat or watching aggro or healthbars, but they still put those things in the game for some reason.
Given that this game mostly follows the post-WoW MMO design guidelines, though, I don't think crafting will change anytime soon, so you're probably safe!
