I would like to see actually crafting an item as something more interesting than it is. Maybe do something like a rhythm game where you have to match timing, and if you match perfectly you get more HQ chance. DoH abilities could expand the sweet spot, or slow down the rate that the indicator moves (giving you more time to still get a good result). At higher level you could get an ability that just gets you a perfect score on that particular step or something. Make it a number of steps equal to item number divided by 5 or something like that.
