Lu Shang's Fishing Rod - Big Fish 100/100?

Hey everyone,

As you probably know the Japanese version of the achievement "Go Big or Go Home" is called "太公望への道" which translates into "Road to Lu Shang" (google translates it to "Road to Angler" but "太公望" is "Jiang Ziya" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiang_Ziya)

Now we have 87 Big Fish for the Go Big or Go Home VII. I think that the future patches will introduce additional 13 fish (100) and the reward for Go Big or Go Home VIII will be our legendary LuShang's Fishing Rod. (btw - LuShang in FFXI removed the "too small" message - http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Lu...7s_Fishing_Rod) and enabled you to catch the biggest fish in the game).

What do you think?

sounds pretty good, but to be honest, I dont want to see the 2.4 big fish

1h timeframe, 10% catchrates with 393 gathering, quadramooches + weather and moonphase ?

I'd be pretty cool with this.

Right now there isn't really much of a reason to go out of your way to seek a lot of these fish except your own personal collection. And while Fisher has always primarily been more about your own personal drive to do so, it'd be nice to have something to show for the efforts.

(Plus, with more and more big fish introduced each patch past that, theoretically, obtaining the rod would become easier for the players that come into fishing later, acting as something of a catchup mechanism when we're a year from now)

Dont forget that now you can desynth the 2-star fish and get the precious mats / clothes. Or MAYBE - 100/100 = Tackle Box? That would be evil

Depending on how they decide to do it, there's still 18 more fishing areas that do not have a big fish.

太公望 or たいこうぼう in hiragana does mean angler, "Jiang Ziya" would be Chinese.

Also, from the wiki link you gave Jiang Ziya is 姜子牙 in Chinese, though under other names and titles Tai Gong Wang is 太公望 (Grand Duke Wang), so i guess there could be some truth to it. Though saying that, I'm going with the achievement boringly translating to 'Road to Angler'.

Granted, I have limited knowledge of Japanese, this is just what rikaikun is telling me. :P

I do hope we see Lu Shangs at some point, though not so soon! I'd be happy with a title for 100 big fish caught, not that I'm anywhere close to that.
