    Novus questions, please assist ^.^

Please forgive me as I just obtained my scroll and honestly have NO idea what is going on at the moment lol. The scroll itself has me terribly confused. I'll try to sum this up in a couple of questions as to not confuse you with how confused I am xD

1- there are slots for all grades of materia, am I to put one of each grade into the scroll , or stick mostly to grade iv materias?

2- do I need to put in every kind of materia or just the stats I want added to the weapon?

3- I keep reading about stat caps when I try google searches, is anyone able to tell me what these are for MNK weapon, or how I can figure it out without wastefully infusing my materias until I hit said cap?

I'm sure there's more questions I have but this will at least give me a starting point. Thank you in advance for any responses!

You only put the stats you want onto the scroll. You start off with tier 1 materia then as you add more and more it gradually requires tier 2, 3, and 4 materia. So for example, if you want to focus on Crit and Determination for your weapon, you will need only those two types of materia. Please note that you can put points into more than 2 stats for some versatility or if you want to keep the cost of the weapon down.

Stat caps: 44 for Accuracy, Crit, and Skill speed (i'm assuming the last one, no one does skill speed but that's what Spell Speed caps at); 31 for Determination.

Thank you so much! So I just start out with tier 1 then it will pretty much tell me when to move up to tier 2?

Edit: okay I think I get the whole thing now xD so no matter what tier materia you use it will only give 1 to that stat, but you have to use higher tiers going along in order for them to infuse? If so thank you so much you cleared everything up for me xD I was really over complicating things lol

Quick question, does it have to be +44 +31? Or can I go for example +22 +22 +22 +9? I know its not ideal, just wanted to know if possible.

You can. The points can be spread out among up to five stats.

Spreading out to 3 stats or more will prevent the need for so many Tier IV's as well.

My question, is at what points for each stat do they require the next tier of materia? I'm asking because i'd like to put ACC, CRIT, and DET on my novus, and will determine where to split it based on the tiers of materia

THIS: I dont play enough to SB or have LOADS of Gil, just want the weapon damage upgarde and avoid IV materia, and since Book Of Diamonds is alredy terrible, even if I spread out the stats allot, it'll still be better than BOD.

So, when do IV materia kick in?

Each tier is roughly 1/4th of the cap for that stat.
Like for crit, the cap is 44. The tiers are 11 11 11 11.
    Det has a cap of 31. Tiers are 7 8 8 8.
    PIE has a cap of 33. I -think- the tiers were 8 8 8 9... but I don't remember for certain.

Each tier will start out with a 100% success rate for infusing the materia. And if I recall, the last 6 in each tier will have progressively lower success rates, stopping at either about 50 or 60, depending on which stat it is.
