Thinking of coming back to the game, and have a few questions?

well, my first question is why is the client download speed throttled between .3-.6 MB/s when I get 1-2MB/s on most other games? (my cellphone gets 14MB/s, but that's an entirely different story) I can get over this, because the actual game is what I am wanting to play XD but at this rate I won't be able to play for another 5 hours.

Secondly I have a 36 Whitemage and I remember not liking to quest with that character, because the 2second GCD made solo combat tedious and boring also, besides the character is a girl and I want to play a boy, should I just make a new character? I already used the free recustomization and while I can probably pay for a new one I don't know where to do that if that is even possible. I haven't even tried any other classes at all lol.

Finally is there anything I need to know about the new content?

PS: I really liked this game, the only and soul reason I quit was because of a lack of world PvP.

FFXIV has a few known issues with piracy detection software, similar to those used for detecting illegal video streams/torrents. It is most likely an issue between your IP and SE, although you can check your firewall to make sure everything on your end is copacetic. If that fixes the problem great, otherwise you may have to call your IP.

You can pay $10 for a fantasia (or less if you buy more, up to 20% discount) if you want to remodel your character but keep your progress (levels, gear, seasonal event unlocks and the like). If you don't mind losing that though, you can save the cash and make a new character with a class you prefer.

The gcd of 2.5 seconds still exists, although few players complain about it at higher levels because of the mechanic-heavy dungeons/trials. There's no world pvp, although they did release the battleground pvp recently and it can be quite fun. Unlocking the content does require you to be lv.50 and have completed all the main scenario quests though. You may or may not consider that a grind.

I'm not exactly sure what problems you had with the map. I do know they've added the ability for you to teleport to aetherytes on the map. You don't have to use the list anymore.

As for remaking your character, every person can contact a GM in game and request one item recovery. You can request to get your Phial back and reuse it. But you can only do this request one time.

I think this is an issue with either firewall or piracy detection software. Last update I downloaded with 5 MB/s so I'm pretty sure it's something on your side.

All casters have the 2 second GCD. However if you want to run as a healer you don't really have a choice. Questing is indeed more tedious as a healer. However I've found that in fates and any other group content you are a VERY welcome addition (50 WHM here). Perhaps SCH is a bit better in this regard, but I have no experience with that so perhaps someone else can fill that in. Especially with the SCH pet I can imagine things are a little easier than solo WHM with questing. I can tell you that at a certain point practically nothing can kill you as WHM on the normal map. If you like fast paced and are thinking of switching jobs I'd recommend BRD\LNC\PUG. They are quite fast and don't suffer as much from the long GCD

Personally I wouldn't waste the money, I'd simply create a new character. Level 36 is not that high and quite easy to reach with some classes. It'll also give you a feel for the game again

Quite a lot to be honest. I kinda suggest you take it one step at a time though. Most of it is self-evident

If a lack of open world PvP is why you quit, then you probably shouldn't stick around. The devs and most of the playerbase feel the game wouldn't be improved by the introduction of level 110 bards hanging out on the road to Vesper Bay killing everyone working on the main story :P

I feel if this ever did happen they would make stealth hide you completely from other players. These bards would get gang beat by all the dol/h XD
