PSA: /busy blocks friend requests, /tell, etc

Since I see more of those 'RMT are sending me friend requests' threads popping up, I thought maybe this could do with a little more visibility.

/busy will block friend invites, LS/FC/party invites, trade requests, /tell, and probably some other stuff I haven't thought of.

While I hope SE can address the real problem in time, this can be an excellent bandaid if you're getting inundated. It also puts a quick stop to some of the more malicious trolling techniques.



Thanks to Kayo, I've learned there's another way to handle this with a slight modification of the usual /blist macro:

/flist deny <r>
/blist add <r>

Yup been doing this for about 2-3 months now. Just watch it though because some people are a little sensitive and will report you as a bot because you are running around with it on your head.

Yeah but too bad some of us need to receive tells from people be it recruiting or just having a conversation, information sharing etc.

Agreed. It's definitely on Squeenix to step up their game. I just wanted to let folks know the tool exists.

Hopefully they'll eventually copy EVE online's RMT reporting system or find something similarly effective.

I would assume they have there methods on how to tell if they are a bot or not. I doubt they would actually try to talk to accused because it might offend someone. You know if you had been just harvesting and then all of a sudden you get a tell from a gm saying "Are you a bot?" Lol I would find it funny but others might get upset.

The rmt have not bothered me since I have had the /busy up. I do everything in fc / ls or ts so if people send me tells I guess I just wont know.

Well, could just be a simple "hello" or something, usually how admins on other games handle it.

If they try to send you a /tell, they'll get an error message, so no worries there. Friends can still mogmail you if they're not in your ls/fc/ts.

Just make that macro thats posted somewhere around here that both declines the friend request and blists them. Its easier and none of the drawbacks from the /busy.

I'd be a lot less offended at a GM asking me if I'm a real player than a GM giving me a permaban from the game based on an icon over my head
