Mender's Ward? More like "Nothing to fix" ward!

So, I got bored and started wandering through the market wards in Ul'Dah, looking for junk to fix for easy rank points (yeah that's inefficient but I was bored with straight grinding,) but NOBODY had ANYTHING to fix there!!

I'm wondering if it ought to be a requirement that in order to keep a retainer in the Mender's Ward ONLY that they should have an item in need of repair in their bazaar.

Nobody having anything to fix kind of defeats the purpose of even having a Mender's Ward, I would think.

The topic of the Mender's Ward has been brought up before in a few other posts but only peripherally with respect to your main point about having retainers up in that ward that have nothing to fix.

It does defeat the purpose and an added precondition that you have something up for repair would be nice. Bear this in mind though (as devil's advocate), I could list something up for repair and offer 1 gil for a G5 repair or something absurdly low that nobody would bother with just to keep a perpetual repair item listed much like some list things for sale for very high amounts to prevent their retainer from ever selling out. I suppose someone could do the repair out of spite but preventing "fake" repair listings is a consideration as well.

I often find people seeking repair there. But usually are items that require really high crafting ranks for repair, like vintage kite shield or the dzemael drops.

Indeed. I might not like the change regarding the game context, but the usefulness of dark matter in comparison with old repair system is much higher. since now you just need to swap classes instead of having to search the repair materials...specially those annoying to get like jadeites, raptor spetches or disabling potions.
