because i craft and am not limited in standing around like a tool waiting for somone to repair my gear and since these forums are full of nothing but 90% stupid ideas whats another one going to matter, quite frankly i have no issues with gear at 0% breaking, 2 years down the line when the game is full of so many gears and your trying to make gil but prices are so cheap its HQ or GTF and then the HQ starts dropping and droppin like in ffxi, i think it would keep a balance for crafts to constantly produce and repair gear.
suply and demand, if it took say 4 times longer to wear down but cost 2x as much thats not a bad thing, and if your retarded enough to let your gear get to 0% serves you right boom your gear is gone tuff shit.

tbh i dont think if you gave ppl gear which never wore down no death penalty and 1M gil just for loging in each day and free kraken club for 2 weeks playing people would still say it wasnt fair or i am being held back because i cant log in each day to get my 1M gil, i cant do this because i dont get my KC till next week etc...

I know there needs to be a death penalty (let's stay away from experience loss, though...), and I'm all for giving crafters more utility. However, I definitely agree that something needs to be done about the current repair system. Gear gets damaged far too easily, and it's far too difficult to actually get someone to repair gear for you. Maybe it's just because Kashuan is such a small server, but I've stood right in the middle of a group of crafters, offering more than enough gil for the Dark Matter plus a profit, and received no repair love for long periods of time. Of course, the 500% repair idea is a bit ridiculous.

This would take durability to 125% and give you the stats of a +1 item until durability wore down to 100%. So if you got a +1 repair on a +3 item it would be like a +4 until it wore down. I would have preferred it had they done something like this.
This, however, is a great idea. Assuming the repair system is going to stay around as the primary death penalty, you could take this a step farther. Some ideas that come to mind:

-Gear damage is only incurred on death, or at least only significant levels of damage

-Repair NPCs become more commonplace and can repair gear to 100%

-Disciple of Hand repairs automatically give gear a quality buff, placing durability at 125%, or 150%, or what have you. Or, rather than breaking 100%, a temporary effect could be added that prevents durability loss for x amount of time/x number of deaths/x amount of gear damage.

-Chances to +1 the repair, giving either additional temporary durability or additional stat buffs (or both).

A system similar to this would be more of a reward for players utilizing the repair system, rather than constantly having the threat of damaged/broken gear looming over you. It would, at the very least, have a much more positive feel, kind of like WoW's current rested experience system vs. FFXIV's former fatigue system.

I think it would be interesting to hear from someone who actually enjoys all their gear breaking down all the time. There must be some of those players too?

It's not that people ENJOY it. Just like no one ENJOYS death penalty, but it's a necessary evil to keep players from being too reckless and dying without cause. Stop looking to your own little world and look at the bigger picture

Uhh nobody's discussing the death penalty in this thread, sorry I don't understand what that was about at all. But to be clear I quite enjoy the fact that there's a bigger death penalty now. That's totally OT but still since that's what you were implying...

Your armor durability is directly linked to the death penatly...

The bigger picture is... 100% is 100% it doesn't get any more or less. To change that, would be to affect the seriousness of the current death penalty. So this thread is rather invalid.

Death penalty is a percentage of damage done to the gear whether it's deducted from 100 or 300 points it stays the same, meaning that just pimped out gear would also have much higher death penalty.

Doesn't really seem like an issue.

    1. allow the NPC repair up to 100%

    2. highest NPC repair cost = 10k

    3. add repair NPC at every camps

    4. no more rank require for repairing, DoH rank 1 can repair everything!

100% is max. You can't go over 100%. It's against mathematic laws
