Then what about crafters? are they stupid too? WoW is cheap stake repair system, they remade it in a way that is isn't so significantly used which is not like FFXIV where repair is constant for they have proper class to deal with the system. In which case Crafters have voice in this game, and hope Yoshi-P will see to it that even crafters have their place in the world of Eorzea.

Crafters make 99% of the items in the damn game. Removing damaged weapons isn't going to take away anything from crafters, especially considering they ignore the people grouped around the repair npc with repair icons above them. Damaged gear is a stupid inconvenience, and I hate mmo's that add it thinking that its a good idea, when in reality its annoying as hell.

No offence but repairing my gear has currently nothing to do with crafters as there are never enough around when you need one. I've afk'd in uldah for a WEEK and nobody fixed any of my gear even though I'm practically throwing away gil as a reward offer.

Wouldn't you rather use crafting to do something useful and positive like I dunno GEAR for example?

Bottom line as a crafter myself I'd rather focus on cooking stuff and selling gear only I can make. Running around after players trying to fix their stuff is not what I'd call good game design. It's neither fun nor rewarding and most importantly it doesn't involve any kind of gameplay when the action happens.

Gear damage is completely reversed to what it could be.

Let us BOOST the efficiency of the current gear and don't make defect gear the default state for the players.

Do you ever wonder how badly this affects battle balance? Think about how impossible it is for SE to adjust the battles because each gear-slot on the player can have literally an endless combination of stats! There is no way to create solid monster-player balance on such a complex base.

You're probably never very far away from someone that can repair your gear, however I bet most of us don't even bother looking for people to repair unless we have abolutely NOTHING else to do... which is never really the case for a crafter.

I'm done checking bazaars to find 1x Same grade dark matter rewards or 500 gil net from a grade 5 repair. It's a waste of my time. If you offer more than that, that's great, but you'll have to advertise that fact to get most of us to pay attention to you since going outside and killing marmots would probably net more money in loot and shards than sitting around looking for people to repair.

I suggested a long time ago that they should have a kind of repair kit system that could be used to repair any item and that's kind of what Dark Matter is but along with this I suggested that repairing an item using the correct mats should give you a chance to +1 the repair.

This would take durability to 125% and give you the stats of a +1 item until durability wore down to 100%. So if you got a +1 repair on a +3 item it would be like a +4 until it wore down. I would have preferred it had they done something like this.

I like the idea of crafters being able to sell their ability to repair a piece of gear which is what repair kits would be essentially it would make making repairs a lot less of a burden. Theres no social interaction in that though. However for the most part unless the crafter is from your ls repairs often dont involve social interaction anyway. I want to see blacksmiths load cannonballs into cannons and stuff like that.

I think a common misconception is that gear values go to 0 when broke or are an instant death if u get hit, this isnt true. Sure values are lowered and effect your effectiveness but gear isnt everything. unless you are getting hit constantly (ie: tank, in which case it is part of the role you chose) you shouldnt get damage that bad.

Its always a good idea to carry 2 weapons if possible just in case since weapons are the most influential from my experiences. (really only noticeable when im leveling for hours)

Also, when im loggin out at night i always put my broken stuff up for repairs in menders ward, its repaired the next time i log in 99.9% of the time. Might wanna use Menders ward, its what its there for.

Doesnt reduced stats for gear not happen until below 30% damage(yellow gear damage)? If so I think the system is rather fine as is. What I would like is for each craft to make repair kits that you use on yourself like an item that fixes your gear in that craft. Such as weaver make an "Emergency Stitching Kit". You could then buy these and take them with you and use them when you need them without having to be slowed down with needing to get repairs every so often. If you want to take this a step farther maybe have this kit only last a set time like it will hold you at 100% for an hour before degrading and returning it to its former damaged state. So you would still need to get a crafter to repair but it offers a temporary solution so you can finsih whatever you want to do. And if you want to you can you use this kit at 100% and your gear wont start degrading for an hour.
    Like the idea

a variation on the current system ide like to see higher repair costs, lower deteriation rate and if a item gets to 0% it breaks and is totally unrepairable and a gear can only be repaird a set number of times before it just assplodes, except NM drop gear which requires a specific npc repair if 0% or breaks, that way the gear is always turning around and keeps crafters busy and ppl will actually try to get NM drops.

would need tweeking and weeding out etc but sumin along those lines ide be happy with also as teh current system which i am also happy with too.

Why? Seriously? What makes you think any of that is a good idea? I would not go anywhere near a game that would do something like that. Why would you willingly want to be inconvenienced in such a way? What a stupid idea.

Yup gear becoming total trash would make me go nude whenever possible. I already have a macro for that =__= and it's 100% useful every time I play mind you.
