the name cor'teh was thought up on the spot to be more fantasy-ish so with how i have been seeing some ideas pop up on the forums i thought of a race that could be brought to eorzea though the lands hidden behind garlamald
backstory of the cor'teh: from the 4th age the cor'teh hid from the growing allag empire, while in hiding one of there bravest warriors went up to fight against lord xande's minions, however after being captured his image was used to create the image for the ultima weapon years in hiding spending more time underground they were forgotten and presumed a extinct speeches of hydalin however when dalamud exploded ending the 7th astral era and scarred open the land the still civilised survivors from the underground earthquakes and exposed to bahamut's megaflare they have started to come back out to the main land, the 2 now sub-races of cor'teh being the ohh'mah and the noh'sea being the direct descendants from the old times but shortly after there emergence to discover there land is now owned by the empire they were run out of there land and they fled looking for a stable area to live, they currently reside north of the cartinau flats.
they hope to mix with the races of eorzea both the beast tribe, and humanoid races.
they have a "god" but not in the seances of primals they regard a old elder of the tribes in high regard and use him as a role model for all cor'teh.
distinct features in general: all Quadruped, both male and female are quadrupeds.
have a long scale like tail,
have appendages out of there upper bodies that others mistake for wings.
beastial like feet (like ultima weapon)
male cor'teh are bulkier with mussels and have anywhere between 1 to 12 spikes with fur like hair that goes down there head neck and back, there 'wings' are either featherd scaled or have a form of element attached to them (used to show both power and rank among male only tribes)
female cor'teh are slimmer and smaller are slightly curved and have either no horns or up to four along with fur like hair on there heads down there spines and along there tails, there 'wings' are mostly feathery
sub-raice distintions
ooh'mah have 4 eyes but they are close to one another, they can wear glasses on there lower eyes, usually more redder and darker tones and males can have a monstrous face (similar to ultimo weapon) females of this subraice have smaller "wings" but they have larger horns. They are normally sized anywhere between 5'7 (170centimeters ) to 6'9 (205 centimetres)
it is common for males to be taller in general to the females of the race
the noh'sea have bluer tones and there tails and "wings" are more webbed due to them growing in ocean caves and are normally shown to be friendly with sahagan (due to staying out of there territory) the race have 2 larger eyes but most are genetically blind leaving them with eyes similar to the dunes folk lalafell, the females of this race have a more humanish look on there top half but a slightly monstrous lower half, they are also much smaller then the Ooh'mah
They are normally sized between 4'5 (130 centimetres) and 5'8 (172 centimetres)
descriptions of the 2 tribes
Ooh'mah: direct descendants of the anchant Cor'teh tribes there bulkier builds aloud them to survive on the most mountainous regions of hydalyn, there multiple eyes have given them the ability to judge distances making them good archers.
Naming convention. male Ooh'mah have names that are chosen on the 2 things the father first see after they have been successfully birthed but cannot be named after another Ohh'mah in order to prevent confusion, in some cases they are named after other races if they are the first to be seen, they are also spelt in a way similar to phonetic spelling
example male names : Stah'Rahk (stars from the sky and rock)
Heyur'Swahrd (a Huyr and his sword)
Roeh'Hoemah (in this he saw a Roegadyn and there own home)
Females are named in a similar manner but only to what the mother first sees after they are born as well as description of it
Lah'Duhne ( a female dunes folk lalafell )
Flawah'Blewah (a Blue flower)
Mewn'Mahroon (a "red moon" showing they saw Dalamud)
all male and female names are followed with the name of there tribes' chief's first name/syllable of which there is only 6 currently alive
Infa
Kell
Neh
Lo'a
Shle
Pah
Noh'sea: after generations of hiding in underwater caves the Noh'sea have adapted there monster like bodies to allow them to walk on the water's surface, it is said the females of this tribe may of inspired the legends of mermaids.
Naming conventions: unlike the ohh'mah the noh'sea have a more human naming convention, based on meanings, they have 1 worded first names due to some of the species being blind the name can be made up on things they know
Male: for the male of the tribe they are named over things that are strong or on items that have a Negative use (aka to kill), such as
Boldah (a bolder)
Infernao (inferno )
Lehvin (levin aka lightning )
Cahnon (a cannon)
female: for the female of this tribe they are named on creatures that convey intelligence or on items that have a friendly use (aka to heal).
Fawks (a fox)
Lahva (Magma from within the cave )
Skrol (a scroll)
Megelex (a mega-elixer)
Fehferr (a feather referring to peohnix down)
There last names are chosen individually following the same rules
notable NPC's 'Cor'teh subject ∑' the model for ultima weapon hostile to anyone who is 2 legged his only wish is to escape his prolonged life in 'hell' so he can join his wife and litter (children) in the aether. he is contained in a tube and experimented on he was brought to Castrum Meriddium to help build the Prototype-Ultima Weapons (his role can be a boss if the dungeon is ever brought out with a hard mode fought similarly to ultimo but much smaller and casting magic then using the primals)
Small Npc's around towns
Silkah'Softh Kell a Ooh'mah female who has experimented with chocobo breeding to create a race of chocobo's capable to holding a Cor'teh there chocobo's are slightly more wider and taller then a chocobo that holds a Roegadyn since the two races weight the same
armour ideas there beginning armour being straps on the feet and body like armour but with a normal shirt for the top,
as for armour in the game already making them bulkier and fit around the legs would work, as for the feet the bottom part (that covers the foot) would have to be removed but that would leave the upper half to look like bracelets for there four feet, there Bottom half would be mostly uncovered in there armour due to there bodies having scales.
the top half gloves and head pieces would still work the same (with full cover helmets to be bulkier to cover the male heads
for armour like the rain deer outfit chocobo outfit and Odins body armour, they would have to be remodelled or streached around the cor'teh body to fit., there "wing" like back appendages would just go though the armour like miqo'te ears in most hats
mounts, there mounts would be slightly wider and bigger then the roegydn due to there size and weight being the same as one another, they would have to be wider to accommodate the lower body.
some animations from attacks would have to be slightly tweaked with them however every skill in the game can still be done, any skill that has them Jump for both the dragoons and the bards could have there wing like appendages flap to assist since they cannot fly,
due to them being similar to Roegadyn they would be able to fit in cutscenes with little issues.
this was a random idea i came up with and i would love to hear feedback i am planning to draw some concepts for this race idea later to help show what i mean for now i would love to head some feed back
(i am currently spell checking so sorry for bad spelling :c)
