Leadtime producing Thavnairian Onions from scratch?

For the gardeners: How long, starting from scratch, should it take to obtain Thavnairian Onions assuming you have 3 gardening beds to work with? How many Thavnairian Onions have you procured since patch 2.3 went up? With how many beds?

I've had some success getting an answer to this question in the gardening threads but I'm just looking for a few more sources to make sure my information is accurate.

I only have a small house to work with so it's taken me significantly longer... the part that takes a long time is you need cross a lot of plants to even get to the plants that you then cross for onions. The path I chose for onions was Slykis seeds+ Royal Kukuru for onion seeds.

(I'm at work so I forget the exact names)
Plant one or two beds with Dzemael tomatoes & Honey Lemons next to each other. Those will cross to give you Apricot seeds you need. Then plant Apricot & Honey Lemons next to each other to get the Royal Kukuru seeds from crosses.

Plant one or two beds with Krakka Root & Almonds to get the Slykis seeds.

Then cross the Sylkis & Royal Kukuru to get Thav onions.

The crosses only occur when you finish the harvest with a plant next to a plant. Only harvest one plant type, leaving the others in garden. Replant, and THEN harvest the other plant type. That way you get more cross chances. Up until the final sylkis + royal I used grade 2 than soil to save money. Use grade 3s for that last part.

Thav onion seeds will only yeild ONE onion no matter what, so use grade 3 than soil there too for a small chance at scoring more thav seeds that way (theory, not there yet)

Fishmeal fertilizer every hour will shorten the amount of time it takes plants to grow to harvest-able.

It takes about 5 days for each growth cycle per 8 plants. The thav onions apparently take EIGHT days to grow from seed.

Honestly the devs are jerks for making it take this long to grow EIGHT onions. It would take almost a year to get enough onions for everyone in my small FC that wants them.

Got most of my info from http://www.ffxivgardening.com which has other paths you can try. I just went with what looked the cheapest to manage.

Anyone else able weigh in on this? Looking for some people who have actually grown some. How long per harvest, how many beds do you have and how many total have you produced?

Just to clarify: To maximize your cross breeds plant like so:
    121
    2O2
    121

The very first plant you gather will never cross since it had nothing next to it when you planted it.

Went you harvest, pull up all the 1's or all the 2's only!:
    O2O
    2O2
    O2O

    or
    1O1
    OOO
    1O1

Replant again, and THEN harvest the others, then replant. You'll get more crosses that way in the long run.

Short answer is: with 3 beds, it's going to take you about 3 weeks to get the seeds, and another week to grow a batch of 8 onions, if you are lucky, up to two months if you are unlucky. Even with extra beds you are stuck waiting on cross pollination, and a bad run can net you only 1 or 2 seeds per bed of 8 plants.

IIRC crossbreeding doesn't happen in the end but as soon as you plant the seed so there is no need to replant for increased success chance.

While I haven't tested it myself Nymeia Leaf + Sylkis Bud is the quickest with only 5 days to make each and with 3 plants that would make 5 days for them 5 days for thavnairian seed and then 7 days for Onions.

Nymeia Leaf is Mandrake + Almond while Sylkis is Krakka Root + Almond, Sylkis have a chance of becoming mandrake instead so if you have shitty luck you'll end up with a worthless batch and due to this with 3 beds that would be 2 to make Sylkis and 1 to make Nymeia, out of 12 plants I got 3 Sylkis seeds and 4 mandrake, as almonds growth time is 5 days and Krakka 3 days you can get 12 plants if you reseed krakka root.

According to the spreadsheet there is also a way to make Sylkis with the O'ghomoro berries which I am trying out now and this should only take 3 days and doesn't seem to become anything else.

Nymeia Leaf + Sylkis Bud can become Shroud tea as well but due to not needing any crossbreeding to be made it's the quickest.

This is just pure theory and I haven't tested it yet, what I have done currently was Kukuru + Sylkis which net me 3 Thavnairian Onion seeds, took about a month to get the seeds due to a mistake. But my FC only has a small house so only one bed which takes longer.

Bed 1 will produce Choco seeds faster than you will make Broombrush, use it to plant your onion seeds.

Use Than soil on everything except for krakka/choco dyes, use shroud on them. Shroud 3 has a good chance at giving 9 choco food seeds, plus much bigger yields of food and dyes.

Since I have a week or so before I get to it... if you plant a full bed of 8 Thav onion seeds, can they cross and give you more thav onion seed in addition to the onion?

not sure if you want to start at the beginning or where i linked but lots of people steadily studying the planting and growing since it began . as for thavnarion repeating seeds rotation nothing straight up like some other recipes
