PS3 and PC account merge question

My question concerns the following: Can I merge an EU PC account and an US PSN one? This concerns me and a friend as I want to gift her the PS3 game, but as she lives in Canada, I don't know as she will be able to merge her PSN acc with her PC one as like mentioned before one will be EU the other US.

At this I don't think you can merge accounts. (Please someone correct me if I am wrong). Normally a person has one account for the duration of the game. Now if you want multi platform then what you do is add the new platform codes to the current account. So for example, I am a PS3 user account. I bought the PC verison and when it asked if I have a Square Enix account I would put Yes and then that PC code would be applied to the account. I myself currently have a PS3/PS4/PC account after buying a copy of each. So I can log in with any device.

Negative. PSN ID's are region locked. So are the Playstation codes. And Square Enix ID's.

Thank you for the replies. So if I understand this correctly, if I wanted to link the existing EU PC account to a PSN one I'll have to buy FFXIV for the PS3 on a EU PSN account, right? But can I still play it on a different PSN account if the one that the game was bought on is on the console?

The Square Enix account will become locked to the PSN account associated with it. So if my PSN account name is (ILoveSony) and it is tied to my SE account (Realm Reborn), then I must be logged into ILoveSony to play using account Realm Reborn. You can use any PS3 but it must be active with your Sony login. I have done this with a friends PS3 so I do know it works.

In answer to your question, yes you must buy a new copy for the platform you wish to play (and yes correct region is important). After you add it to your account you will see it in the Mog Station. Here is mine.



As you can see I have added both PS3 and PS4 to my WIN account. If you don't care about using a PS3 after you get your PS4, you can upgrade for free but you will lost access to the PS3 version.
