Is your zenith equipped? That's usually the culprit. I spent 14-ish hrs on 1 atma on my last round but spent maybe 6-7 hrs total between the other 11. Chill and turn on Netflix, binge on a show and change zones hourly.

And look at it this way at least you don't have to....

    - Spend months attaining highest rank in your gc
    - Kill 3 beastmen with 24+ hr respawns and can only be claimed by one party after hrs of farming keys to pass thru gates
    - Spend a few more months climbing 100 floors of a tower repeatedly to earn enough points to buy and item
    - spend months killing odin again and again to earn enough points to buy another item
    - spam content to earn 30k alexandrite when you're lucky to get 100 per run all while spamming other content for the ability to enter this content which will also lock you out of the climbing those floors or achieving your highest rank so it really cant be done at the same time as the rest.
    - are constantly held back by weekly timers and jp midnight lockouts

and boom you got 1 weapon

    - or -

have to spam 18-man content that took hrs of /sh and coordination to set up that only one group can do at a time and you are only allowed to do twice a week and earn 18k-ish drops at maybe 500 a week plus other random drops for a single weapon and are also blocked by other random timers. This also doesn't include the troll or 3 that get into your party who can utterly destroy a run if they really want to causing you to get nothing or nearly nothing, wasting not only one of your 2 runs for the week but also all the time you spent just setting the pt up. Oh and lets not forget having to redo this same pt again because the content you wanted to do was being used by another group causing half your pt to leave and forcing you to begin anew.

Looking at it that way, SE has completely eased up on the difficulty at getting these infamous weapons.

And if you are frustrated by atma, your gonna rage on alex/materia too. maybe its just time to look at games with no long term goals.

I have a suggestion that might please the old-timers that went through the grind, and the newer/casual gamers (though they might still complain).

Make atma something that you have to grind for each zone. I don't know what the drop % is, but let's say it is currently 1%. Then make the specific atma drop after a player completes 100 FATEs with his/her relic at that zone. That way, the old-gen can't really say that the new-gen get it too easy all the time. And the new-gen/casual gamer can track progress.

I fall under the new-gen/casual gamer category, but I understand the "we had it much harder" attitude of some. But at the same time, from a game design perspective and a casual gamer perspective, I don't quite see the point of inserting this RNG element in this specific element to the game.

the 18man content doesn't seem that bad idea and if you get troll that ruins a run purposefully then just kick them from the static and move on but there are people who are still learning and mistakes happen just because someone messes up a few times doesnt make them a troll everyone has to learn at some point and im sure everyone had to practice a run countless times just so they can be good at it and not mess up
also as for making partys thats what statics and free componeys r for and ls in ffxi
