While crafting something with my Weaver a few days ago, the items starting glowing and mentioned that the items were imbued with lightning aether (or words to that effect).
Can someone explain to me what implication that has on crafting?

When that happens, you will gain 200% progress if you use the crafting skill "Brand of [Element name]" of the matching element. Otherwise that skill only gives the normal rate (100%)
A small number of recipes have an elemental affinity. If you use the corresponding brand action on that recipe (in this example, Brand of Lightning) it doubles the amount of progress you earn compared to Basic Synthesis. It's nice if you happen to be working on one of those recipes, but their number is so low it rarely if ever comes up.
I think it is only the "vintage" recipes that have this happening. But indeed very few.
Thanks for the replies, yes it caught me by surprise. At least I know what it means now.
Fair warning, those crafts have a high difficulty. So, normal synths are half as effective, and brands wind up as effective as normal synthesis normally would.
