Some theories dont match my results. Here is an example... (Pay attention to the changes that only used 1 berry.)
NOTE: The number of berries listed below is how many it took to reach the "new feathers" message
Desert Yellow > 3 berries > UI Brown
UI Brown > 5 berries > Gobbiebag Brown
Gobbiebag Brown > 1 berry > Aldgoat Brown
R 180 > R 156
G 158 > G 128
B 130 > B 085
Aldgoat Brown > 1 berry > Goobbue Grey
R 156 > R 130
G 128 > G 128
B 085 > B 125
Goobbue Grey > 1 berry > Lilac Purple
R 130 > R 124
G 128 > G 098
B 125 > B 098
Lilac Purple > 3 berries > Lavender Blue
Lavender Blue > 1 berry > Plum Purple
R 128 > R 114
G 120 > G 075
B 169 > B 101
From my tests, 1 berry changes the RGB color much more than 3 to 6 in some cases. In other cases it doesnt change part of the RGB at all. Also if you look at the last example (Lavender Blue to Plum Purple), feeding it 1 berry (which should add/strengthen blue) actually LOWERS the blue in the RGB color code.
Remember that when your chocobo's color changes you're not changing to the exact RGB value of the new color, but rather your chocobo's current RGB value is closer to that value than any other. Thus when changing from Lavender Blue to Plum Purple, you're not changing from the pure values of those colors, but rather from one value in a range to another value in a range.
The Blue color path from Desert Yellow is approximately: Ul Brown - Gobbiebag Brown - Aldgoat Brown - Shale Brown (?) - Goobue Grey - Lavender Blue - Raptor Blue - Othard Blue - Royal Blue.
This is based on 'best guess' values for the colors in the game though and your results are close to predicted.

Hello everyone! I'm not sure if anyone still checks this thread, but...
I started out with a brand-new Desert Yellow chocobo. Aiming for Soot Black and using various guides/calculators/FC advice, my chocobo has gone Desert Yellow->Currant Purple->Deepwood Green->Marsh Green.
I'm starting to get a bit frustrated (feed is expensive!), and would LOVE any advice you could give me![]()
According to ffxivchocobo.com, you're so close! You're looking at 1 × Pears, 1 × Apples, 2 × Berries. From my experience trying to get to Snow White and the charts, I'd say start with the Berries. Give it a berry to see if you get the new feathers message right away. If not, then the other berry, then the pear, then the apple. Of course, stop when you get the message. If it doesn't come out as Soot, continue from where you left off. Theoretically, from where you're starting by the time you feed it the apple that should put you almost exactly on the soot black numbers (unless ffxivchocobo's RGB numbers are wrong).
Oh man... I didn't see your reply in time. I actually did end up feeding her 2 berries, then 1 pear, and 1 apple, but I didn't stop after getting a feather-changing message. I assumed those messages would lead to colors than weren't *quite* Soot Black, and only after feeding them all would I get there... UGH. I ended up with Deepwood Green though, which is SO CLOSE OMG. ffxivchocobo.com is saying 1 x pineapple, 1 x valfruit. I'm going to wait for your reply before jumping the gun here... Which should I feed first? And should I wait this time if only one fruit gives the message?
And thank you for your response!
I'm new to the whole chocobo dyeing thing, and completely confused! Can anyone give me any tips?
Current colour: Desert Yellow
Desired colour: Celeste Green
Thank you![]()
So I wanted to make my little choco a Seafog Blue. First it turned out Peacock Blue, then Sky Blue. Now it reverted to Peacock again, and I have NOT the slightest how to get out of that silly circle.
Admittedly, my English isn't good enough to fully understand all the long posts about microfeeding... So I wonder whether anybody out here can give me advice what I could do to fix the mess before I'm completely broke? ... oh wait, I am already.
I'd be very much obliged if this seemingly dead thread would get a revive briefly.
Peacock Blue to Seafog Blue
5 Doman Plum, 7 Valfruit, 7 Ciedales Pineapple
Alternate colors when feeding.
