It just sort of hit me.... but not sure if someone brought this up already. Sorry, if it has been!
It's possibly a bad idea, but, seeing as how a lot of the DoLs and DoH are reliant on each other (I guess DoH reliant on DoL) - sort of like how regular party set ups are reliant on each other - what about crafting hests where the mini plot is (just a single example) 'xyz customer is coming and we have to deliver these important things! Get xyz parts made and submitted before they arrive!" and then a set time limit (3 minutes, or whatever of increasing difficulty for hest level). So it's using the crafting/gathering jobs to work together to complete the build of something or to fulfill a 'customer order'.
The DoL/DoH would probably have to be specific per hest, though... IE; 1 miner, 1 botanist + 1 goldsmith, 1 wood worker, etc
The DoL would have to run around and collect materials (much like the leves) that would then be 'handed over' to the NPC - who would act as a storage (with probably continuing additions of the same materials in case of fails in synths).
The DoH players would take the necessary gathered items from the NPC 'storage' to use in crafting x amount of the required items (not necessarily normal craftables that are in the regular crafting menu, so players can't bring their own stuff and cheat).
After that, the made items are turned into the NPC - and maybe xp bonus for any HQ items.
If the items aren't turned in by x time, the hest fails.
TL;DR, the idea is something like a cross between the current gathering FATEs and Hests, but with crafting and DoL gathering woven in (and collective little bonuses for HQ'd anything). AKA, the DoL and DoH working together.
I think the only case that wouldn't work so well is leatherworker, which uses mostly skins (which are usually from monsters)... unless a DoL gets some kind of temporary ability for the hest (kind of like using the potions on glamours in leves). Maybe using 'Stealth' (as it seems the skill is DoL only, giving them value) to come up to a monster/animal, use the ability, etc. If they don't, the monster/animal will always run at an unreachable distance (rather than attack.... though maybe the upper level hest would have attacks... lol) I'm not sure how that would have any other skill involved though, unless the ability to grab the item from the animal is based on their gather/perception/etc stats (or just works the same way as the usual gathering method, just with different than usual items to gather in the menu)
I'm sure there's the inevitability of trolling, but pretty much everything can be subjected to trolls...
