    FFXIV +Macbook

I have no idea if I posted this in the right category or not.. But I need your help!
I want to run FFXIV on my macbook pro 15" (I know it's not the best and it's not a gaming computer, but I would like to play the game when I'm away from home and have nothing to do.. :P)

I would probably need to download stuff + update my mac since I only got it for school and haven't change anything yet. Can you guys tell me what I would need to do?

    My mac:
    Processor 2.3GHz intel core i7
    Memory 8GB 1600Mhz DDr3
    Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000
Storage: 500GB + I do have an external hard drive (also 500GB)

****I don't give a crap about graphics!!! Like I mention before, I would only play the game when I'm away from home. Usually I play on PS3 soon to be PS4. All I want is to be able to run the game with little or no lags (if possible).

    Thank you for your help!!

There isn't an OSX client for the game, you need to be running windows.

Yeah I know, but you can download windows and run the game from there. All I want to know is if I'll still be able to play with little or no lags.

I think you will have a low frame rate even with the lowest settings but I think it can be played. Check your laptop video card specification here, your video card is way down the list.

There are ways to do it, but if it doesn't work and you can't get it running, there's nothing SE is going to do for you. If you're willing to risk that, then go ahead

Your going to need to use "Boot Camp Assistant" commonly located in the "Utilities" folder (press CMD-SHIFT-U in the Finder to open it). Or better yet visit Apple's Boot Camp page. This makes setting the computer up to run both Windows and MacOS incredibly easy.

Your going to need a copy of Windows 8.1 ($110), and an external DVD drive to install it (unless you can find it on USB stick; I couldn't ).

I know people who run the game on a 2010 MacBook (non-pro) without problems. So it should run fine on your MacBook Pro.

The iGPU of that i7 is pretty weak.

You will be able to run FFXIV, in order to do daily quests or crafting. Estimated 10 FPS at low resolutions, (1024X720)

I played on my mac mini all from launch all the way till the PS4 release. We have the same specs, you'll be fine.

You'll need to lower your resolution to 1366x768 and even turn off battle effects for content like Titan EX because the AOE creates too much graphical lag slowing everything down. Garuda EX has a bit of a slow down during the tornado phase but it isn't as severe.
Everything else can be done at 1920x1080 with full battle effects. Even the 24man CT and odin/behemoth fates.

Hmmmm. I should look into playing it on my 2011 MacBook Pro. Would be nice to do some gathering & crafting away from home.

I wouldn't dare go into a dungeon with it, but these days I'm doing more gathering and crafting than anything else anyway.
