Sony under DDOS attack.

well this doesn't sound cool at all. One might be getting frustrated with sony right now and that is understandable, however the new update kind of makes me wonder.

The most surprising thing involved in this new update is the involvement of the FBI, and smedley's flight being redirected due to a bomb scare, this includes more on those claiming responsibility, specifically, their claimed motive. "Pc master race" ...o.o

it even states this is designed to bring down sony.

...the pc master race is alright to bring up in conversation as a joke, but i somewhat sense, this time the joke has gone too far. The frippets responsible have gone all in, and the FBI have gotten involved showing Sony has gone all in too, this may take some time to be resolved, so if any of my company members read this out there, i haven't abandoned you! im still here! =D.. pls feed my plants.. use the money you earn to upgrade the garden in-between planting too >.<

I cant help but think to myself if this group is using a DDOS as their opening attack on sony to ultimately bring sony down, and redirecting a flight as-well, it sounds like they have seriously underestimated the fbi, and Sony. And also overestimated how much you can get away with on the internet and through cyber re-routing.

I'll take this chance to make a request of square enix, if this lasts for a significant amount of time, can we please have our subscriptions extended *big teary googly eyes* D:

Yep, they don't take that kind of act lightly, they have countless excuses to stick the terrorism label on it, and well, isn't this one of them? =p

Can you please explain why the PSN network is needed at all for signing in to FF14? The only possible explanation I was able to think of was checking whether a player had genuinely bought their copy (by checking the purchase history of the PSN account). However, when I log in to Mogry Station, the information that I am a licensed PS4 player is there, so again: What does the PS4 client need PSN for at all? Why not make it so that PSN is only needed for initial registration, but not afterwards?

P.S.: Just thought of another reason: Checking whether an updated client is available. However, the check is so trivial that it could be done with SE's servers using minimal overhead, and the PC version does not need any servers from Sony, Microsoft, Steam etc. at all to achieve this.

Im with you on this. Once your account is registered and authenticated, I dont see why connecting to psn is necessary. As a subscription based game its not necessary to be a ps+ subber on ps4 to play. I can understand the need to connect to psn for future expansions, or dlc, but for everyday logging in it would be nice if psn can be bypassed on days its down for maintenance, or for events like yesterday.
