    Your character is saved online in SE's data bank, all your doing is accessing that data through your PS3 instead of PC. You will not have to restart fresh.

    Hope what? in FFXI i can play on PS2,XBOX and PC with the same account i had for my PC. They said a long time ago that FFXIV would be allow to be play on both ps3 and pc within the same account this is to give players if there board and lazy want to sit down play on ps3 doing a endgame event and it more about playing then play on pc and so on/

    so yes all you need is a PC account and the PS3 CD.
