Welcome!
When soloing, it can be tricky sometimes to pull a single mob without others agroing - but you can tell which ones will by hovering your cursor over an enemy without targeting it. If a target will link, it have yellow lines move back and forth between it and other enemies which will link on it, thus allowing you to judge whether or not you would be able to survive such an encounter. Enemies will usually only link if they're close to one another, so it often pays to wait til they move away so they no longer link.
Incidentally when you are in a party, all enemies will link, regardless of whether they will link usually when soloing or not.
Thanks. So there's no skills melee dps can use to just single pull a mob? In other games I've played, there are some low damage ranged skills, or a stone throw type thing, so that even soloing melee can solo pull.
Thanks for the tip about BAFing.
I seemed to have some success in drawing them off with some low level ranged skills. Iim not sure which melee type it was, might have been a Pugilist, I'm not sure.
EDIT - No my PGL doesn't seem to have a ranged attack. but my Lancer does - "Piercing Talon". I remember now being able to use that for drawing individual mobs from their buddies so I could attack them one at a time.

All melee get a ranged attack from their level 15 class quest except Pugilist. They're just kinda boned there.
Indeed. Actually, their level 15 abilities also have increased enmity, and thus in a party it's recommended that the tank pull using it.
