But you also not considering the fact the devs consider the relic the more casual and unlike the weathered and allagan do not need to be limited to battle. Also you underestimate the crafter's contribution to the novus as alot of the materia people used were converted from crafted gear and spiritbonding. I imagine we will be on the path to the new model as per an off handed comment about curtana going into a new weapon like excalibur which if the original quest requiring the I55 weapon melded is example it would not be to far out of expectation that the i70 and battlecraft demimateria will be required.

The issue appears with them dumping the custom stats or keeping them.

Kill B rank hunt mobs untill 30 Amta's drop. Then use those Amta's to summon a viscous beast that must be killed solo and will involved a 7 minute battle of survival.

You also don't consider the fact the devs might want to make the relic more than a casual alternative later in the game.

By the time people waste here in the forums complaining about ATMA or waiting that SE makes it easier they could have done a FATE and got shard.
